2022 Rocket 3 GT (Triple Black) and it is a big, powerful bike that is surprisingly comfortable. Fun as hell to ride. Torque for days. Fair review. Many owners get the quick shifter and the GT has heated grips as standard equipment. I don't get the head bobble you spoke about. The bike does corner surprisingly well at speed which is fun to pull off. It has road presence. This bike attracts a lot of attention.

Hi Kate, I've had my GT for 3yrs daily ride, no front end wobble, in fact it's the most planted bike I've ever had. My only gripe with it is the tank capacity, it should be a 22 litre and not 18 litre. Using it daily I'm always filling up and if out with others I can fill up twice to their once 🤷
@ScragNath
@ScragNath Жыл бұрын
Agreed, a 22 litre should be the tank for this bike. Especially because of the low MPG.

@@richard7059 I only sold my Classic because I was rear-ended by a bus and caught the bike one handed. I did a *lot* of soft tissue damage as a result and simply couldn't ride it anymore. Otherwise I'd still have it today. It took 10yrs before I could ride another big cruiser. I had a B-King and a Hayabusa in the meantime, and really wanted another cruiser but nothing stood out. The X-Diavel was nice looking, and the H-D Breakout looked cool. But there wasn't anything I wanted to drop coin on until the new Rocket 3 was shown.

I have the GT with R bars and foot pegs. The GT has heated grips as standard. Absolutely love the bike, the more you ride it the more you want to ride it. It’s kept me off my Suzuki GSX S1000 since I got it. Your summary of the bike is spot on even the wee head shake which doesn’t bother me.

I agree 100% in what you say Kate - in fact a Rocket 3 is the most fun I've had in a motorway situation. On the old Rocket 3 roadster you had to knock it down a gear to fourth, but the throttle response was instant and brutal. Very addictive.

I have to commend you for probably one of the best unbiased reviews of my favourite motorcycle I've ever owned and I've had a few. I am only based in Horwich Bolton and recognise the roads you did the review on.I own the rare edition Triumph Rocket 3R Black. It is an everyday use for me that I commute on into work. I have added the quickshift and heated grips and it makes a massive difference in the cooler months of commuting. I recommend All Year Biker to do a full ACF50 winter proof of the bike. It makes a huge difference to protecting the stunning workmanship that Triumph have made. I did experience the slight headstock wobble but a trip to Kais suspension really made a difference. The front and rear suspension are set up at factory so are not tuned to the roads we ride on. George at Kais suspension sorted that out and she now handles with total compliancy. I agree with all your analysis of what you love about the bike. I sort of agree with what you don't love about the bike. It is what it is and every individual is different. I think if one can afford this model it is the complete all round bike well for me it is. It has power It has acceleration and then some. It has Torque almost too much...but who cares. Nothing else looks like it. Nothing else has a commanding presence like it whether in motion or stationary. It's design is unique. The back up service from Triumph is excellent...I've never had an issue. Recommend the extended warranty...its worth it. Brilliant unique cutting edge model from Triumph. Mines a keeper as they say. See you up at Upper Rivington Barn...

Over 70,000 miles on my Rocket 3 and she is correct, the seat is amazingly comfortable. Also the handling is great as well, forget other cruisers I have passed way more sports bikes than have passed me. A very good rider on a liter sports bike, yea they will pass me. Never experienced the little bit of wobble you speak of and i have been up to 140 mph on it.

2023 Rocket 3 GT - torque, torque, torque and when you think it´s at it´s end there is even more 🙂 Seatingcomfort is great - even my T120 (an absolutely comfy bike) doesn´t play in the same league. Front brake - feels spongy on the lever but you soon find out that if it would be direct you´d fly off cos the brakes stop the Rocket in a split second if necessary - never had better brakes. The Rocket is so accessible and after a while rides like a moped. On the downside we´ve heat - i burned my right thigh and calf several times (even on days like today with a mere 17 degrees C). If someone buying the GT means business for touring it doesn´t. When you fill up you get 300 KM (186 miles as range but you´re ending up at the next gas station (given you find one hopefully) after 222 KM (roughly 135 miles) every time if ridden with consumption in mind. If you rush things you´ll see the yellow light much, much earlier. Adding to the calculation tyres (don´t last long), service, insurance, loss in value in case of resale (a niche bike in a niche market) buying a Rocket 3 is a very tricky situation. Either a owner is very rich on the search for a new toy and doesn´t care about all that or is a T-fanboy who gives a ... about the facts, fell in love with the R3, never enjoyed pain but with the R3 accepts it gladly (it´s a feature :-) ) and would do/ does anything for the Rocket 3. The latter one describes me 🙂

Love my Rocket. Got air filter sorted, waiting on dr. jekill and mr. hyde exhaust, then will get ECU sorted. Also totally agree on how it makes you feel while riding it.. COOL is such an understatement! It's a unique ride, and a unique motorcycle to boost, and it's been so flawlessly executed that I wish summer never ended! And another thing I'd like to add, your review is probably the most accurate on utube, and I'm sad enough to mention it, coming from a girl, that's quite telling! The Rocket doesnt make you feel like a boss, it does it because you ARE! You go girl!!! Even my R has got the heated grips AND the quickshifter/blipper. And even a sissybar for the girlfriend! Add an evotech tail-tidy and some wunderkind accessories like blinkers and clutch- and brake controls.. It doesnt get much sexier than that! That is something you forgot to mention, but showed brilliantly in the video; the presence of the bike! And how everyone and their dogs look at it. The attention you get is pretty.. special I guess! If you're an introvert, then that bike is not for you! Everyone stops and looks at it! BTW, you can do the quickshifter/blipper and heated grips aftermarket, from Triumph. All accessories are interchangeable between the R and GT. I got the R, but it's pretty much a GT by now despite handlebars and mid-controls. Friggin' love it!

Hi Kate, I had a GT having had an previous Rocket 111 but I sold it after a trip to Spain. It was a huge disappointment. My partner hated the pillion position. It handled appallingly two up and fully loaded. The huge rear tyre tracked in the lorry tyre indent on the inside of dual carriageways. It felt really unstable. In my opinion it was not fit for purpose as a Grand Tourer. Mine had heated grips and cruise control but every time you disengaged the cruise it slung her forward into my helmet!! I came back from the trip and sold it immediately. I bought a brand new Multistrada V4S which is chalk and cheese, she loves it and so do I and it handles way better than the GT. ( ps my old rocket was way better and that didn’t even have ABS! Simon

Very nice video you made there Kate, pleasant listening and watching. I have a GT, and added the BT, and quickshift, problem solved. I fully agree to what you say; its a beast, and the pull is addictive. I can tell it is limited at 250KM/h standard (gps), approx 277 on the clock. Only short, because it applies more torque to the neck then willing to last for a while... :) I have a question for you (or other owners); if i let the grips go, the bike slightly pulls to the left, and i have to lean to the right in order to let it go straight. Been to the dealer, and he said ist normal on this bike. Is this true? Do more of you have this experience? Also wonder if anyone tried other tires on it, and what the outcome is? Thanks!

As a recent owner of the 2021 Triple Black limited edition GT model, I have to say I agree with most of what you say and absolutely love the bike. I haven't really noticed the shimmy you mentioned going over bumps, I have to admit it doesn't like pot holes but it's never given me reason for concern. It handles way better than you'd ever imagine, changes direction easily and likes to lean. The GT comes as standard with the heated grips and I'm having the quick shifter fitted during its yearly service this weekend. It sure does attract attention and without exception every passing rider has nodded, waved or acknowledged my passing regardless of what bike they're riding. I've called mine Black Beauty due to her blacked out features and the fact she likes a good gallop. Once you've ridden one your spoiled, nothing else quite hits the same spot. Apart from my other beast the Kawasaki ZZR1400 Performance Sport, it's equally thrilling and has longer legs when it comes to a race to the finish line 😀

Good review. It’s nice to get a woman’s perspective: weight, height, reach and pragmatism - it’s a big bike in both power and weight. I’m seriously considering to acquire a 3R; initially I was interested in a Diavel. The Rocket build quality alone is a piece of art. I’m 6’2”, 220 lbs, and plan to use for urban riding / commuting. Hence, I’m leaning towards the 3R and not the GT. Just wondering, though, how well the 3R riding position performs on the occasional long distance trip. Options for heated grips, quick-shift assist and TPMS are available. However, I agree that they should be included at this price point.

59,000 miles on my GT and I still get the shit eating grin when I peg the throttle. And no, you didnt peg the throttle in the video. And the price is just mid range for a Harley. Oh and I love the Rocket in the turn abouts, lots of fun. Mine has the quick shifter and heated grips too. Both worth the money.

Can't really peg the throttle on the camera without going to jail Jim 🤣 it is not wise to board cast crimes LOL

Beautiful amazing bike,you would think the engineers could give better mpg and keep the performance. The rear number plate holder looks odd in the position it's in.

I own the GT, got the ECU flashed and mapped. Putting out about 206HP, 250LB NM torque. Extra 500 RPM. Top speed now is 280Kph. Loving it.

Great summary Kate I have the GT with R mid footpegs, remapped de restricted and the quickshifter is a game changer the best addition to put on a rocket, and you are bang on with your comment of how they make you feel 👌🫅

Have you ridden the BMW K1600b. I know it’s a bagger but the torque is crazy. I don’t know if it’s as quick as the rocket but you might like to have a ride of one for comparison. Like the rocket it’s a beast size and weight wise but the way you handled the rocket it might be an interesting comparison for you. All the best. Great videos.

I have the R Black (Limited Edition) with the OEM quickshifter, flyscreen, pillion backrest and luggage rack. After 2 years and 18Tkm, I absolutely love the insane torque, the ergonomics, the design and the build quality. I usually cruise in 6th gear under 1500rpm and relax with the deep (not loud) rumble, but can also twist the throttle and leave practically any car in the dust. I don't like the short and stiff rear suspension on bumpy roads, the key fob being ostensibly out range when in my leather suit pocket and the inner fuel cap refusing to lock. I am concerned, as many owners, about the rear brake becoming spongy and needing a bleeding every few months. Overall it's a monumental motorcycle for experienced riders. By the way, Kate, are you sure the one you rode had a steering damper? Mine must have fell off when riding over a pothole ;)

We have a Roadster bought new in 2012. Yes - feels like king of the road, never envy another bike. Would consider a new model just for the added safety features.

hi kate, i have a question, wonder if you could solve it. of all the cameras that you use, do any of them have a wireless/bluetooth mic?? i just bought my R1250RS from chester motorrad and new flip top helmet. i dont want to mount a camera on the helmet so would need to mount it on the handle bars area. obviously cant have a wired mic trailing from the bars to halmet. do you have any advice? cheers.....

Pity you didn't get to ride the GT. I was surprised you didn't/couldn't interchange the models with the other girls at the Triumph Film day. As far as looks are concerned, the GT is defo the model of my choice. Unfortunately, I only ever got to ride about a quick mile on a defunkt Air strip at a Dealership Exibition Weekend. I must admit though, I was tempted to go back after dark and nick it for a day or two! A very impressive muscle machine, that is sadly a lot bigger than the width of my wallet. So Kate, I really enjoyed, what am I me saying here... I lapped up every word, on all your four Rocket videos, one video after the other. T'was a really good review, expertly executed, and it was very obvious how much you also adored this monster! Now i'm off to bed, to drift away into dreamland and hope tomorrow morning there will be a Rocket GT standing in my garage with my name on it and maybe even a message saying "Have fun Steve, greets from Bolten, K"... 🙏. Well, we are all aloud our dreams, Right?

Try the GT next time and have them dial in the shocks for your weight- I guess they may be set too hard for you. I agree that it doesn't corner that well but Im used to that now. The only thing I don't like is the super ugly plate holder and the quiet exhaust.

The seat is an issue for me. I've had my Rocket 3R a couple of years. The seat is my only issue. It seems like it's pressing into the inside of my legs. After riding a while, I have to stand up and shake my legs out.
