We're gonna ride the Z1-R in this video but first, I'll catch you up on where we're at -- and I had to make a special part for fuel delivery, but you'll never believe where I found what I needed to make it! Please subscribe, share and like the video. I need to grow the channel more in order to keep providing you good content.

On my 78 Z1R. Replaced the carbs with 29mm Mikuni smooth bores with 6" yosh stacks. No problem. Now that's in 79. With RC Engineering 4 into one headers. RC was right over the bridge form Philly in NJ. We had to mess with the jetting. It ran good. Rich K.

For the muffler one piece metal stock. Bending it twice like a upright letter Z. Drill a hole in each end, done. Good job, love your taste in bikes.

Thanks. Please like/subscribe and share. I need your help as a viewer to spread the word and get my numbers up so the analytics play more favorably in my direction. I can provide more content with a viewer base that kicks the system up a notch or two in the revenue model, which really isn’t terribly well designed for smaller channels. Thanks again.

15:42. would recommend a bit of heat shrink or a rubber boot over the battery cable lug to the solenoid thing. just to neaten it up. but the bike looks really nice.

Yea, I know about that thanks. It does look very risky leaving it like that. I'm actually going to tighten up all the electrical next couple days, get everything tied up as OEM looking as possible, I'll get that then. Cheers.

Great video Tom. The bike with the Kerker sounds very sweet. Good to see how you make things workout without it looking shizee. Older bikes especially with carbs just seem more interesting like MAN AND THE MACHINE! RIDE SAFE OUT THERE !

The OE would work fine too if it wasn’t modified. Why not just do original? I do not know.

Nice work, there always seems to be adjustments needed on these older girls. Are those 18" wheels? If so, what tires are they? Pickings are getting slim on those tall tires.
@MotoRestoFL
@MotoRestoFL Жыл бұрын
Not sure. I can check for you because the owner has been musing about buying some new wheels/tires, putting the fat swing arm on and a fat rear wheel. I imagine, should that come to fruition, he'd sell these. Email me, motorestofl@gmail.com. That way I can put your email in a separate folder in Outlook, and if he pulls the trigger on (giving me even more work to make the rear wheel fit) that stuff, I'll reach out to you at that time.

The petcock on the bike is not a Z1-R petcock - it looks like a Z-1 petcock. The Z1-R petcock is smaller. I know this because I own a ‘78 Z1-R. with the original petcock. Hope this helps. Enjoy the videos.
@MotoRestoFL

Well, you got me on that one, I had never even thought to check that but you're right... the parts fiche shows a very different petcock. Figures with this bike, it's been way butchered up over it's lifetime. We're going to stick with the in-line because I know 100% that'll fit above the pod. Pingle has a replacement for the (proper) Z1-R petcock but I believe even that will be too long. Anyway, thanks. Lesson learned.

Stupid question but aren't the rear shocks on upside down...? I'm curious about the Kerker, I'm restoring a Z1R on my channel and paid the $1100 for a brand new chrome kerker, hope it fits.

No. That’s how Hagan said to install them. If you can see then, the Hagan decals are upright. They were emphatic about it.

Not sure. The header is perfectly. The muffler doesn’t line up to anything without mods. I show the past number on the box in the video. If it’s that number, you’re likely in for some extra work.

@@MotoRestoFL Ya that's the one I bought, damn. I took a crappy old kerker off it so at least I can compare it. The old kerker fit with the center stand. Looking at yours it doesn't look like the center stand will fit.
