I was torn about the monitoring screens, but this one really appeals to me. The fact that there is no modding to do to make it look nice, the fact that it does not use an HDMI port, the native support for AIDA64. It's really well thought out

These extra screens taking up an HDMI port has always been a deal breaker for me for those same reasons, but also because I'm always running out of ports anyway. But there are still use cases for them, so it's nice to see them evolve in the right direction.

At $130, that's a hard sell vs a Streamdeck which has many more options for customization through their plugin marketplace. The only real thing you gain here is having a non-segmented screen which admittedly does help a lot for that Aida64 integration.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. Thank you for the review. I trust your judgement. The other solutions I've come across either use and HDMI port along with the USB for power and are a second monitor in Windows which creates all sorts of additional issues. The others that work like the WigiDash and only use a USB connection rely on software you have to download from rather suspicious sources or at least unverified sources. I'm reluctant to do that and they don't necessarily rely on AIDA64 or HWINFO. This might seem like a benefit, but you have to rely on whatever sensor technology they are using to monitor. All in all, this is a great solution. Now if they would make a panel you could use internally to the PC, maybe just for a sensor panel and not touch screen or remote functions, that would be a perfect option for those who just wnat a plug and play sensor panel.

I had a 7in EK Lumen screen mounted in my o11 Dynamic Evo, which I intended to use with Mo-Bro. But when I was building the new PC, I realized MoBro had gone subscription (I'm not paying $11/ mo). Aida64 Sensor Panel functionality is pretty good; just know that the fancy skins only work when you're using a locally connected LCD (ie. HDMI, DP). For something like this (or an LCD connected to an RPI), looks like you're using the LCD / 'remote sensor panel' functionality. So no fancy gauges and skins b/c I guess Aida64 uses a different renderer for that. STILL, I'd rather go this route as a decent compromise. I can live without the fancy gauges. At least now a) I'm not dealing with Windows weirdness w/ a physically connected monitor or b) having to autoload a browser window in Raspberry OS remotely and perhaps have to deal w/ fonts that aren't on that system that I selected on my local system. In a perfect world, if Aida64 could pull in information from HWINFO that it seems to be missing that would be great. Without even considering all the other stuff the Wigidash appears to be able to do, this looks like a well thought out device. I've ordered one and I'm looking forward to messing with it.

And ordered, exact thing I wanted. Have 3 screens on a 3090 atm, if you have a 4th screen plugged in (even as HDMI audio) the GPU won't clock down from its base clock anymore and uses a heap of extra power.
@bugostare Жыл бұрын
Is that something Nvidia said or your observation? Because my 3080 does clock down with 4 monitors plugged in. Sometimes (usually after dirty updates) the driver glitches out and maintains the base clock, and you just need to reinstall the latest driver after uninstalling it with DDU.
@Greenytica Жыл бұрын
@@bugostare Personally tested after noticing a significant increase in my power bills. I had gone from using 3 screens plus my DAC to send audio to my reciever (stereo) to 3 screens plus the reciever as a cloned output (7.1) of 1 of the screens. Noticed after 2 months that my power use was way up and that the room was generally hotter. Eventually noticed that the 3090 would maintain its base clock all the time and never drop down into the 300 ish range on desktop. Finally got it to drop down with a screen unplugged. Some googling around pointed to 4 screens being a thing. Swapped 1 sceen to HDMI to reciever, then passthough to one of the screens so the PC only has 3 outputs, fixed. Could have been a driver thing or a 3090 thing, unsure but it was nice getting my power bill back down a little since electricity is stupid expensive in South Australia :(

@Greenytica try a clean install of the driver and see if that helps. I've had different Nvidia GPUs not lower clock to idle on many different setups, regardless of refresh rates and/or number of monitors. A clean driver reinstall always fixed it.
@Greenytica Жыл бұрын
@@bugostare Did that and it still did it. Running a couple release old driver atm though because I picked up a new baffling problem with a driver release in the last 2 months. PC was having a thing where the CPU (5950X) would trigger a PPT/TDC/EDC protection mode and drop max core clock on all cores to 469 MHz. Stock CPU settings, stock ram, pbo on, off, overclock on, underclock, didn't matter it would just trigger at some point. Ended up swapping back to my old Windows 10 install and it wasn't happening. Ok, clean install 11 again, update everything, happened again. As a last ditch thing before giving up and building a 7950X3D system, older Nvidia driver by like 2 revisions. @bugostare Жыл бұрын
@@Greenytica In my experience when it seems there are inexplicable random problems like that, there probably is some seemingly unrelated device causing instability. Could be network driver, could be unstable CPU or RAM settings, bad harddrive, bad cable and who knows what else... Even a display cable can cause weird issues - I once had a DP cable that seemed to work fine at max refresh rate and resolution, with full color and no artifacts, but would prevent the PC from shutting down, and would make startup take much longer. With how complex everything is today, it might be something you never think about. I also had a bad onboard network driver issue, both causing BSOD and then completely breaking the Windows boot sector somehow. Try to pay attention to any issue you encounter, maybe check Windows Event Logger for system errors and check device manager for unrecognized/improper devices.

Dang, I missed getting one. Although, if it requires purchasing AIDA64 just for monitoring, that would add a lot to the cost, since monitoring my temps and such while gaming without using an OSD is all I want.

Could probably write one for your SteamDeck if you have one, or an LCD etc over the network.

@Der8auer - Great vid and info. I have been running a WigiDash for about 3 weeks now. I just like the ability to monitor the gear. I was wondering how much performance "loss" you saw while running this full time. Just curious, or maybe no one really cares. But id love to see/know.

I can't imagine myself controlling volume or music on a touch screen [and being happy about it]. I actually use the PgUp and PgDn to volume on my TKL keyboard, cuz it doesn't have multimedia dedicated buttons for it, and using FN + FX is a mess. F7 is pause and F8 is next. Don't use them anyway. Powertoys made them usefull, but probably I would change that for a proper board to control this and some knob for the volume. But never a touchscreen. Can you imagine? Terrible ideia. I actually would love some old school looking device, with limitations but like a good one. You know, it could be a bluetooth one with e-ink screen or a matrix LCD, with some kind of RGB to turn on in the dark. E-ink would be more limitless but a matrix LCD would be just like some retro PCs used to have. The aesthetic of a product like this one showed makes Windows 8 Tiles look pretty.
