I think the official term for the genre that Smash Bros. is called a platform fighter. So you don't need to call them smash likes or clones.

I agree, but I want to point out that action platformers with an emphasis on exploration are still called 'metroidvania's, despite a much broader amount of games within the genre. Because of being the sole inspiration for most of these games, I think you can forgive the name.

I've played this game today for like 8 hours and I really like it. The first Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl may be an medium dissappointment at best, but this shows how great a sequel can be if you give some passionate devs the MONEY they need to make GOOD WORK!

the best part of smash bros is it following kirby's design philosophy a lot of simple actions can be used in tandem to make the game complex and ever changing. the brilliance in simplicity which smash bros like chess no individual move or piece can do everything but together they can win games.

An excellent video as always, Alax. This sort of tilts toward me actually wanting to buy this now. The gameplay does look addicting, even moreso than the first one, but MAAAAAN, how I wish they didn't cut so many characters. Like, I mained Reptar in the 1st one, so I'm good, but if only we could have all four Turtles, Sandy, Helga, Powdered Toast Man, Catdog, freaking HUGH. You think there's a good chance they could bring them all back in a free update or something? 😭 MAYBE a small fee even. I just want them all back again.

There are two simple reasons why some characters had to be cut to make room for new stuff. These two reasons are budget and time. The devs may had more budget than they had for NASB1, but it was still rather small. And they also had only 2 years of development time, which is not that much for th amount of content they've actually thrown in. There is still a chance some of the missing brawlers from the first game can appear, probably after the first wave of DLC characters. But they still need the budget and time to do this. So the more people support this game the higher these chance is. (But we still need some patience for this as they will not appear before 2025)

Yeah, Toph and Catdog were like the two characters I actually cared about in the first game, so the fact that they both got cut means I'll probably pass on this one unless they get added back as DLC or something.

They need to put Tak from the original Tak and the Power of Juju video game trilogy in this game! Jason Marsden acting was amazing in those games super nice guy! Tak 2 the Staff of Dreams is one of the best 3D platformers ever made, plus Tak’s character would be perfect for a fighting game! Make it happen people

@@Gamingwithahandicap Funny Fact: The company that made those games also did Hogwarts Legacy. It says here that Take games were inspired by Jak and Daxter. Jak and Daxter was inspired by Banjo Kazooie. So Banjo in Smash is the closest we'll get to Tak in a fighter.

I was gonna say the same thing, I feel like there was a Dr.Strange mindwipe that made every smash player forget it existed. I think the biggest difference with the meters is Rushdown focuses more on movement and NASB2 on attacks.

There is no Bikini Bottom stage. This game has 4 SpongeBob stages: Jellyfish Fields, Flying Dutchman Ship, Bun Wrestling Ring and Chumbucket. Jellyfish Fields being the only one of them suited for competetive.
