Color, using my Nintendo cable connected to a Framemeister is definitely richer/deeper than the HDMI solution (using the one from Kaico). Is it worth the additional $150, probably not. Of course the Framemeister allows for some real fine tuning, but $250 is a chunk of change. I purchased the Japanese version with the D-sub connector which plugs right into the Framemeister. But it came with a component pig tail breakout. Just my luck that Retrofit would come out with a clone cable after I laid out the cash for the Nintendo one. I was wondering why up to this point, no one had made a clone cable.
@TheRealGara3 жыл бұрын
Are you playing your games in 480p? The Framemeister has issues with 480p and you'd get a better result directly plugged into your TV. The hdmi solution would also have the benefit of removing analog noise from the image. It wouldn't be a huge upgrade, but it would be a noticeable one as the Framemeister kinda sucks with 480p.

@@mjmonjure it's easy to get into the realm of diminishing returns, but you should see a noticeable increase in quality even with just 480p passthru on the OSSC vs the Framemeister's noisy 480p>1080p output. The digital port on the Gamecube converts a digital signal to an analogue one (component). So this component cable would be converting a digital signal to an analogue one, and as a result will introduce a very small amount of noise, and also some input lag. The HDMI versions of the GCHD adapter are digital to digital converters, complete with no noise and virtually zero input lag.

Sorry if I am confused, but what are you asking me to test? The GameCube digital port and the Wii video port are not interchangeable with cables.
@DigiPen923 жыл бұрын
@@Madlittlepixel I was wondering what the Retro-Bit Adaptors would looked like on the Wii since I was thinking of getting the HDMI Adaptor for the Wii for playing GameCube and Wii games on my future streams since my GameCube Disc reader got damaged from reading the discs years ago.

Play your Gamecube games on a cheap Wii with a $10 component cable.

I got mine today, and I did an image to image comparison between it and my Carby Component, and it’s definitely not as good. It’s a tiny bit less sharp and a little dimmer. Which is a bit disappointing, I bought Prism cuz Carby Component couldn’t do 360p GB Interface, and this cable does display 360p GBI properly, but it’s definitely not as good for Gamecube games as my Carby comp. Guess I can’t completely replace the Carby with this, and will have to keep both until there’s a cable that does everything perfectly. But it’s still a decent cable, definitely worth that low price. just not perfect

If I have Carby HDMI and Prism component, would you say I should use Carby HDMI for GameCube and Prism for Game Boy stuff?
@mindscan4202 жыл бұрын
@@DragonQuarter well I needed prism because RetroTink5x only gets the best out of GBI if you use 360p mode.. Carby component didn’t support that mode at all. With a Carby HDMI you don’t even need a Prism you can just use an hdmi to component converter, in fact it’ll look better than prism, if your hdmi to component converter is good anyway.

I just got a set of these and I have no sound at all. I know it is not the GameCube. I also have a kaico HDMI adapter and I get sound when using that. I also have tried my SNES, Genesis, and PS3 all with HD Retrovision Cabela's in the same tv input and they all work. So it is these cables. Very disappointed and dissatisfied with these.
@RastaJediX3 жыл бұрын
These cables are not worth the money. A Swiss and GBI developer has proven the left and right audio are swapped, making these essentially identical to the crappy Chinese clones by BitFunx because they are also both using GCVideo-Lite, which is 8 years old now and has a *ton* of bugs. Using a Prism etc. with a cheap DAC from Amazon is a much better solution, or a GCHD MKII with quality Wii cables, which wouldn't be as good as the Prism/Carby HDMI with a converter, but still much better than anything with GCVideo-Lite. UPDATE: the swapped audio channels are being fixed apparently

Hmm, "affordable" you say? $60 is still a 2x upsell when compared to the original GC component cables, which were only $30 way back when they were sold direct via Nintendo's website.

@@RideRedRacer 😆 "Inflation" is the lazy man's answer to everything. This is price gouging the gullible retro market, as it almost always is with aftermarket products.
