I guess it would be sacrilege to suggest that Henry Ford Sr. knew what he was doing. Among many things, he made cars affordable and easy to own. Stellantis could do the unthinkable and make Jeep a basic utilitarian division again. Base model would be the CJ-5, with the bare minimum done to make it legal to sell in the U.S. And the top model would be the Jeep YJ which could be updated; again to the minimum requirements to sell it.

@geraldscott4302Ай бұрын
@@SigFigNewton The "electronics" are 90% of the problem. My biggest issues with them are that they run on software, have 24/7 WiFi connections to God knows who, have elaborate built in spy systems with cameras and microphones that watch, listen to, and transmit everything you say or do over their WiFi connections, and have built in "self driving" TRASH technology that can literally take control away from the driver, and make the vehicle do whatever IT wants. Brakes that apply themselves, steering wheels that turn themselves, cameras that determine whether you are "capable" of driving or not, and can be hacked and controlled from pretty much any wireless device, by anyone, including the government. They can shut the engine off and lock you inside. They can make the vehicle go where they want it to. They can literally use your own vehicle (which actually isn't yours anymore, even after you have paid that insane price) to kidnap you. And then you have those huge, UGLY black ghetto reehuums with no tires that not only look disgusting, but are completely worthless on actual roads with bumps and potholes.

Not just in the US. We want that in Australia too and I suspect this is the tip of the iceberg. @@Insanity_Crow I don’t see why reliable and boring have to go together. There have been plenty of interest in and fun cars that are reliable. It’s just the current trend of building cars which are designed to last the warranty and then start causing trouble which is very expensive to fix. Things like fragile timing chains that are put at the back of the engines necessitating an engine removal just to fix. Or plastic coolant pipes buried deep in the engine, or even worse, plastic water pumps. Even things like starter motors buried in the V of the engine meaning changing it is a multi-hour job. The list goes on.

Just a few variables that are killing the brands, aside from reliability: The incentives are not sufficient enough to entice buyers. The other issue is the mass depreciation people have incurred buying both new and used cars during the pandemic panic, and of course the fact that so many people no longer qualify for loans other than predatory, sub-prime if any at all. The car manufacturers opened the door for the dealers to increase MSRP beyond reason.

The people have a vendetta against Chrysler/ Dodge/ Jeep dealers. They scammed customers, and so did the manufacturers. I wanted a hellcat and i was not paying a mark up. Now im not buying one till I can get a hellcat with 10k miles for 50k. They are at 60 now. People thought i was crazy. Watch me get a low mileage hellcat for 50k. Thats what they are worth. Because its what im going to pay. Never let someone tell you what something is worth to you. Its a dodge. If I wanna spend 100k, I'll buy a Bentley
@eduardojimenez2044Ай бұрын
50k for a ANY Dodge is still crazy, cat or not!! Better wait another 12-24 months and get it for 20k?

If there were not 100% tariffs on Chinese parts Stellantis would be able to add tons of European products with Chinese content. The fact is Chrysler and Jeep have always contributed cash to owners at the cost of downgraded quality. The last really great Chrysler was the Valiant.and it had electrical problems.
@borghorsa1902Ай бұрын
On the contrary I would ban all Chinese products in the West. China is behind Russia's WW3 in Europe, all of West should cut all ties with them. Let them sell their junk to Somalia, Russia or Brazil, fellow BRICS members

From my and my family's experience, the K cars were actually among the most reliable, and durable cars that Chrysler ever made

Negative equity means the monthly payment amount wasn't as high as it should have been! 🤡🥴
@geraldscott4302Ай бұрын
Any idiot is going to have negative equity for a while unless they pay at least half down. A new computer/spymobile/robocar loses 30% of its value before the ink is dry on the paperwork. So you are going to owe way more on it than it is worth before you even get home with it. Financing new cars is just plain stupid. I did finance a couple of vintage collector cars for a short time, they actually went up in value before I paid them off.

this is what you get when unions dictate hourly wage, Im tired of Unions, they have too much power, if I ran a company and someone wanted a Union, id fire them and hire others that will work for a decent wage, they make too much, part of the problem, and they add to much tech in vehicles we neither want nor need.

A country can be ruined by one leader like Canada One man can ruin a company as well like Stellantis like the CEO

Inflation is down from 7 percent under Trump and his coronavirus era to 3.4 percent now. If we let Russia win in Ukraine there will be a mass exodus of dollars throughout the world, guess where they will be coming to? - Home! Expect 400 percent inflation under Trump and his comrade Putin's victory

Over the past year tech and manufacturing companies have been laying off like crazy. The unemployment numbers are propped up mainly by all the government jobs Joe and Kamala "created". It's going to get worse for Stellantis next year, it's going to get rough no matter who gets elected.

Can anyone explain why N American , Euro cars are so poorly made & unreliable? Is it management or workers, or just the entire Western culture, & the attitude ( or lack of care) towards quality & responsibility causing this?
