Decluttering my shoes!
My minimalist wardrobe sort of ends with my shoes. I definitely have a bit of an addiction to shoes. So it's time to declutter and try to get back a bit of organization on today's episode!

ugh, i feel you on how hard it is to declutter shoes! you can have the most minimalist basic wardrobe but it's your footwear that transforms simple outfits into multiple different scenarios & vibes.

Got rid of all of my big heels and big wedge shoes since I broke my foot! Yes!!! Fell off my wedges! Broke my foot in two places! 8 weeks in a cast! No more heels for me! 🤣

I think it was fun to see everything all at once. I think when you have less clothing it makes sense to have a good shoe collection. The shoes are an accessory that need to you that complete look. I’m at 10 pair and totally know my sandals or flat shoe collection will be the bulk of my closet as I rebuild. I live in Hades 🔥 and sandals, flats, & sneakers are my go to for sure. I love your Angela Scott boots those are my fav in your collection. 💕

Thank you for addressing how to dispose of your edited items. My question now is, where will the desert boots go? If they go to recycling, why not just keep them? You are wearing more brown now, and I suspect they would find themselves in some of your styles, and you LOVE them. I think we are kidding ourselves if we think everything we "let go" actually gets used by someone else. Even though it is a pain, selling them on eBay, for example, helps ensure that they will wind up with someone who values them. My problem is that I am "too lazy" to responsibly get rid of things so I just keep hanging on to them!

If donating items that aren’t in good enough shape to resell, take the time to clean and repair them first. That way they’ll be in the best condition for someone to actually thrift them.

The Stella M’s look like orthopedic shoes-they’re HUGE on your feet! On the other hand, I wear a pair of black mules like the ones you’ve just parted with, because they’re so easy to slip on and they look great with a pop of argyle socks (ie: black, grey and red plaid). I buy and sell on Poshmark. They’re good if you know quality like you do. Thank you Emily for your videos.🍀

Coming from Brisbane, Australia where Winter lasts about 3-4 weeks my shoe collection is all about sandals, thongs (flipflops) 🤣 a few sneekers & the occasional boot (3). I love a good destashing video! I’m still on the hunt for the Jeffrey Campbell boot but am finally at the point of destashing my shoes and bags. However, I am looking to buy one good luxury bag. I’ve decided on the Lady Dior ABC bag in matte but, matte what? Grey? I have a grey Botkier and MZ Wallace bag. Neutral blush? I have nothing. Black? I have several. If you could only have one bag for all year in a semi tropical location, what colour would it be? I’m looking to destash about 30 bags so what I keep is all based around that decision. Shoe decluttering... I feel you!!! I love shoes as well, and it is always hard to let go of some of our "desires" that do not meet our actual needs. I got rid of all my heels because it did not feel like me. I've been keeping 2 pairs of black boots because they look more formal, just in case, but I never wear them, so one of them is going soon... It's funny because I really identify with the way you pair your shoes down, but we have completely different styles except for the Air force 1s XD I feel like I know the problem with your black mules, and also with your AF1 sneakers : they are neither for winter nor summer. - The mules are not open toe, and a bit bulky, so you'll never think about them when it's sunny or rainy. And when it's colder AND not raining you'll never have the proper kind of socks to match LOL - the AF1 : my theory on sneakers is that their colors can make them summery or wintery : these ones have a white sole, more summer inclined, yet their black prt up to the ankle means you won't wear them in summer because it will be too contrasting with your skin color and "cut" visually your leg at the ankle. It's always a pleasure listening to your reasonings! Keep up the good work!!!

I think I would have got rid of one of the pairs of off-white hi top trainers as they serve the same function and they’re very similar in colour. I think I have the opposite problem to you in that I don’t have enough wearable shoes. I have small but wide feet with short toes and I have arthritis so struggle to find comfortable shoes that I like. Sandals are the worst I can never find any that are comfortable.

I can see edgy boots are the shoe for you. What do you think of Margiela Tabis? Or Tabi sneakers? Also, why don`t you have more heels? I am asking because I would like mixing masculine with feminine and as I like non-feminine clothes, heels would always make a nice balance to an outfit. Although that said, I rarely wear heels because I like to walk everywhere.

You know, shoes can be very feminine without heels! It has been imprinted so badly in us that we need high heels when we actually don't... For me, I need between 1 cm up to 3/4 centimeters MAX to feel comfortable and still be my running around self. It's been a game changer. Recently I got a pair of Converse Run Hike, and against all odds I feel really feminine when I wear them ! When in doubt, if you're looking for feminine "city" shoes, look for almond shapes for the tip, it's a no brainer !

I just donated 27 pairs of designer shoes to DSW. It was painful but I no longer wear 5 inch heels. They were harder worn and a few were never worn. That was only 1/3 of my stack. I will go through the rest a few months from now . I don’t sell them because it is a waste of my time. I donate to DSW because it is local and the people are nice there.

OH Emily! lose the shiny black Jeffrey Campbell Tack? boot with the hideous heel! Also, vegan leather often uses an exceptional amount of resources/ not always petroleum products because "apple leather"/?(probably expensive, maybe nice ....if you can afford it, but perhaps more environmentally sensible is a quality leather boot with many useful years left after you tire of them. Vegan leather looks cheap even (or especially) when it's Stella....
