I have a 2 door blue ST170 Fully loaded and totally standard I’ve had it for just over 10 years it’s now done 112,000 miles I still absolutely love it And it will definitely go up in value at some point Would love to spend a few thousand on it to get it back to its former glory

I have an 02' ST170 and my one feels like it still makes it's 170 horses. You have to drive them right, the engine only really starts to pull at 5000 rpm. When the IMRC opens on mine at 6000 rpm it goes banzai for the redline! The biggest problem with these is the gearing. 42 in first, 70 in second 90 in third and 110 mph in fourth is just too high gearing for UK roads but if you keep them above 5000 rpm they are so much fun! Fun fact - these have almost the same gearing as an early Mk1 Lotus Cortina which had gear ratios designed for use on the race track!

Bought one of these via a tax rebate several years ago as a stop gap car after the engine on my imported Impreza blew. I simply loved the thing. Fantastically balanced understeer free handling, wonderfully weighted steering and steering feel, Fantastic brakes, a lovely supple ride and such a comfortable cockpit. I believe the vehicle had an oil cooler also which isn't often mentioned?. In terms of off the line acceleration, Ford made the gearing much too tall to avoid it stepping on the toes of the Focus RS performance-wise. This wasn't the end of the world though as the high revving engine was quite lusty and had a decent turn of pace at higher revs, and this car was all about maintaining speed through corners. Very surprising amounts of speed. Such a fantastic underrated car this. I part-ex'd mine against a Golf R Mark 7, but I had a lump in my throat leaving it on that VW forecourt in Warrington.

I've got a turbo st170 currently running 310bhp. Going for mapping on Monday for some extra power, more than happy to let you have a go on the channel.
@Mr4..11 ай бұрын
What you done to it to get it to 310?
@spakkawasp468011 ай бұрын
@Mr4.. forged PEC conrods, RS pistons, blacktop head with st170 valve springs, 440cc injectors, sytec 340 fuel pump and a Garret gt2860rs. Tomorrow taking it to get mapped again with 550cc injectors and higher pressure map sensor so will see what we can get. Turbo should be good for about 350 60ish

Will shortly add a Focus to the Fiesta I already own. Both great cars imo. As you asked, another great performing warm hatch is the MG ZS 180. If you can get past the badge, what an awesome car and available for buttons. Mine is available for review if you fancy it.

When it comes to late 90s, nothing beats the Focus. They drive so much better than its competitors at the time.
