Sister Anita, who just died 12/31/22, is singing lead here, as well as their biggest pop hit “So Excited”. The late youngest sister June led “Jump for my Love”. Eldest sister Ruth led “Neutron Dance” and a huge Grammy winning hit called “Automatic”. There are TONS of fun facts about these legends: 1. Ruth now tours with her 2 daughters as “The Pointer Sisters”. 2. They had another sister named Bonnie (died 2020) who is on their 70’s work and had a couple of solo hits. 3. They have 2 older brothers who played Major League Baseball!

You two should react to their song, "Automatic", it features the other sister (Ruth) in the lead vocals, and she has a sort of baritone-ish voice. It's quite different. This song shows again how great they harmonize together also. Anita Pointer, who sings the lead in this song, passed away in 2022, sadly. In the early 70s, they started out doing traditional jazz with a few other genreaus mixed in. They started mixing in current 70s funk and it made for an interesting variety. Check out the album STEPPIN - their best IMHO. By 1978, they dropped the old school jazz completely and started doing rock covers. Their album Priority could almost be called hard rock. Then in the 80s, they went pop and that sent them into huge stardom. Although I prefer their early 70s period- from 1980 through 1985 they were huge. I saw them live in 85, and that's one of the best shows I've ever seen. They were entertainers. Their 1981 live At the Attic North Carolina show is on KZbin and it's outstanding. The song " automatic" is a favorite from their pop years
