Whenever I lust for new gear(I have had the MG 30 for 3 years), I always revisit these demos. I realize how good this product is .

This is totally insane. I've listened to hundreds of reviews/demos on all Line 6 products, all Fractal products, Quad Cortex and all the others. This little NUX MG30 sounds ridiculously good. To my ears it sounds just as good as the others..... WHAT!!!! Already ordered mine at Thomann (for 299 euros). Can't wait to get it - and it has got a send/return built in, so that I can use my very old Tube Screamer and my Turbo RAT. What a great time to be a home musician. And Johnnathan; great great playing as always.... just love it

It's crazy how much these little boards are capable of. I can't get over how close these amp sims are to the real things these days. I mean, people claim they hear differences. But I'd argue that amps aren't all necessarily going to sound 100% identical anyway. So depending what amp was captured on what day in what situation, these factors all go towards affecting the final tone slightly. Modellers are another story of course. It's not enough of a tonal difference to my ears to complain about. Then again, I still have the boss Gt8, which I purchased when it was 'top of the line' tech and newly released. That was advertised in its day as being a flagship, 'sounds like the real thing' device. In that instance, there was a strong argument for that just being marketing spiel. Great effects unit. Terrible for authentic distortion tones. Nowadays, I'd argue the amp sims are close to 96%-100% accurate. Madness I tell you! It's a bit like complaining that the graphics on the ps5 are garbage, when you've never played a ps1.

Ordered from Thomann based on your video! It is really enjoyable to listen to your playing. You have a real economy of note playing that says a lot and inspires me to play fewer notes to convey the message! Well done. This processor has a wonderful tone quality and I can't believe they are offering it as such an affordable price. Even if it only had the palate of tone you demonstrated it would be worth the $300 bucks. The Roland is more than twice the price and while formidable, comparatively does not convey the same level of information on the available functionality so clearly and logically displayed on the screen.

I built a small analog board several months ago because I joined a band but we haven't had any rehearsals due to the pandemic. A month ago, a friend loaned me his HX Stomp to try it out. I loved the idea of having an everything in one solution that sounds good and actually helped me make my KZbin videos sound much better. I listed all my pedals for sale hoping to sell them and get my own HX Stomp. I still have a couple of pedals that I need sell but then I stumbled upon this NUX MG30 and I could actually afford it so I pulled the trigger and bought it without researching it that much. It should arrive in a couple of days, I still have the Stomp on loan. I'll shoot them out and see if it's worth getting this instead of saving up more for the Stomp. Luckily, Thomann has a good return policy. All in all, expect a whole lotta videos from me on this lol. Not sure why I wrote this comment, I guess I'm a chatty person lol. Thanks for your content John, I appreciate it! cheers!

@@johnnathancordy how many presets does it allow one to create and store? Can you access wah, compressor, distortion, modulation and delay effects to use in a single preset or is there a limit? Can you go straight into a powered speaker for output? Sorry never had a combo unit before, so don't know most of these things. Looking for something travel friendly, that will allow me pedalboard type use but without an amp .

What's cool is this: Over 16Million new guitarists since the pandemic began. Not all can have, or want, amplifiers. Units like this in the hands of those people.... I can imagine at least hundreds of fantastic new guitar players we will be hearing from in the coming years. As we move into a resource scarce world, units like this put all the combined knowledge / equipment of those who went before with the smallest ecological footprint. More and more players will never know the sound of a real amplifier and the names of these patches/captures will only serve as names vs something they compare against. Exciting times. Best Regards and Best Wishes Johnnathan!

I've been hearing that amp and IR wise, all of them are quite comparable, NUX, Valeton, the tweakability of their features (mic position, global EQ stuff) and the sound quality (or processor capability and their firmware updates?) that comes into play. Comparable amp + IR sound, but when modulation or reverb and delay taken into account, some can give good sound, some can sound very decent. Not to mention pricepoint as well. So many choices for 300ish, and I think MG30 offer quite the value especially with their consistent firmware updates.

A decade ago I played in a show-band playing at different party and disco bars and clubs. Being in a show-band you don't just need an overdrive and delay pedals, but rather a whole rack of modulation effects. Due to low budget back then I only used the Zoom g3n and 606 pedals because they come with modulation and built-in expression pedal, they were very much like a swiss-knife all in one fly-rig type of effects, although they were digital, they sound just as good as the analog ones if mixed right. Its amazing that 10 years later we have these amp modeler effects that could do everything from the studio to live playing as well as recording. The future of music technology will be much more lighter, perhaps there will be no more amps and cables, just a musical instrument with built-in amp modellers and computers.

John can make the cheapest amp in the store sound like the best amp in the store. That said, this MG30 sounds great. Similar to the FM3 in the limited samples I heard here- and it's about 1/3 of the price. That bit at 15:45 sounded amazing- really nice and detailed. John- is it as touch sensitive and do you like the delays and reverbs as ? In other words- how does it compare overall to the FM3? I like the PC editor on the FM3 and being Fractal, I imagine it can do several things this one cannot. I think this one has an editor online too. For a non-pro, this unit seems like a great piece of gear. I like too that they include a pedal. Strong value. Did you know preset 14C is named JCordy? (at least in a video review I just watched.)

Hi, just curious, I would like to split my bass signal and send a dry bass signal to my bass amp and I want to send another wet signal to a guitar amp that comprises of a pitch shift of an octave up sent to another pitch shift which adds a perfect 5th to that 1 octave up signal with no dry bass signal then into some distortion so I can send this wet signal to the guitar amp when the guitarist does his solos, to fatten the sound a little as we don't have a rhythm guitarist to do this.
