Finally, horses are good.

I love playing Minecraft slow; and the elytra is anything but that. The next best option is travelling by horseback, but even that has its flaws. Here are 11 fabric mods I love that upgrade the horse in 1.20.1! This collection brings out the best in horses, polishing up some annoying aspects of the mob, and improving it in a vanilla plus way!

One of my favorite relatively small horse mods is realistic horse genetics. Adds a TON of new skins & even breeds of horses. You can have giant draft horses or small ponies too.

If you still would like to be stopped at random mid ride, every feature can be toggled individually in the config! Although I do think I used the wrong word. The horses still make sound, it’s the giddy-up where the horse stops on its hind legs that it removes

You actually used to be able to do the crossing water thing with camels on bedrock, I always thought it was intentional so I was devastated when I found out it got removed as that was the only relevant feature Camels had over horses as it allowed you to cross large distances at a slightly slower pace, but without having to either build a bridge or drag your horse across every river. Now camels are just unique less useful horses that only have the fact they protect you from zombies, and can step up 1.5 blocks, although horses can jump 4 blocks and can outrun every aggressive mob to protect you, rather than only protecting from melee.

For anyone looking for better looking horses I think fresh animations adds the best looking animations for both the horse and other mobs. Might have trouble with horse buff because of possible model changes messing with the see through horse thing but I haven’t tried it myself so I’m not certain either way I’d say it’s worth it tho

Fresh animations is absolutely fantastic and I use it all the time, but yes, the model does glitch out with Dyed. Perhaps one day there’ll be some compatibility with it!

Superb Steeds alone is so super nice. I've been playing with it for like a month at least. I upgraded my horse from the worst in both stats to maxed out and it always felt so nice when an upgrade hit. It also applies to all vanilla mountable mobs I've tried so far (I don't know if it applies to striders and pigs), so you can upgrade your camel's speed to something that's actually pretty fast without having to sprint everywhere. It even applies to llamas! (though I'm not really sure how you'd train them since there's no saddle and you can't control them while riding them).

One change to horses I really wish for, is for them to have 'weight' to their charges. Maybe give them a limited sprint option that makes them go quicker (perhaps requires a second or two of normal running before you can charge), but if you run into a mob or player it stops the charge and deals damage to the target, very similar to a ravager's headbutt. I want to have effective cavalry charges in minecraft!

Minecraft should make it to where horses take up all the space in a boat, but you can lead boats together. Making lead pathfinding better is overall a good idea.

Linking boats together with chests would be so good. There is a mod called horseboat that I would have included in this video, if it were available for the right version. That one allows horses to sit upright in the back of the boat. Even that change alone fundamentally upgrades steed!

Theres a mod by flashfyre that adds a lot of enchantments and it adds 3 for saddles, Quickness makes the horse faster, leaping makes it jump higher, and buoyancy alloows it to float

All we actualky need is bedrock mechanics for horse breeding. Where breeding a horse with a speed potion effect makes the potion effect permanent, and stackable on the new child. Leading to ridiculous speeds

Another great mod for horses (and other things) is Epic Knights. Not only does it add two new types of horse armor (barding and chain mail), but you can decorate both these and vanilla horse armor with banners. But my favorite addition is the Lance, which allows you to ram enemies like a jousting knight, making horses not only a mode of transportation but a tactical advantage in combat.

Id love to see a mod that adds some kind of charging mechanic that could dismount players/mobs riding lower stat horses or stun them, but also deal more damage based on how fast your going, like a lance. Itd also be cool to see illagers using horses, it doesnt really make sense that a raider type mob wouldnt use horses even if they have ravagers.

Crafting as in picking up and setting down items in your inventory? Or when completing a craft it plays a saw sound effect? The first one is "Sounds". The second one is "Dynamic Surroundings", but it doesn't seem to make the sound for me. Might need to be turned on in the config, or is not available in 1.20.1. My skins have an extra segment with it that "Entity Texture Features" uses to make me blink! In the empty space that skin files usually have, I've added two extra frames that the mod switches between to make that possible!

may i suggest the mod "niftycarts"? it adds carriages to horses so you can use them to move materials (supply cart), mobs (animal cart, can move villagers) and make paths/strip logs/till soil underneath (plow)

@@capitanspoiler7393 The rebalance does exactly what it's supposed to. Villagers are incredibly overpowered, and this helps them be much more fair. I really like this change, makes progression slower, meaning players will enjoy their world longer. Not to mention book shops would be more valuable. Exploration is now more important, it encourages you to explore more, and build more. It's a slight hassle but you get an excuse to build in more of your world! But if you really hate the change that much, you can move the villagers all in one spot after trading with them once. I should also mention this is still an experiment, and subject to change. Nothing was confirmed to my knowledge

I use epidemic sound! It gives me a huge audio library for sound effects and music, for a pretty reasonable price. If you’re looking for something free though, freesound.org is a good alternative until you can afford something better.

I’ve actually thought about this. I’ve got a series that I removed the elytra for, and it got me pondering. What if the ability to put mending on it was the nerf? That way you can’t use it all the time since you have to be more conservative with the durability, AND phantoms are now much more useful. That or removing the ability to use fireworks with them, so it’s just a glider like the good ol’ days

@@layncemc Removing the ability to fly and maybe compensating it with some other function is how I'd do it But I do think that might be a bit too drastic for some people, so I think that mending nerf would be really nice

Can you make a modpack with all of the vanilla+ mods you've gone through on the channel? Preferably Fabric!

@@layncemc I'm actually working on a modpack right now with most of the mods shown in your vanilla+ videos for 1.20.4! Though, I may take a few creative liberties and add more. Sadly I'll have to wait for Exposure to update to 1.20.4, I LOVE how that mod looks.
