Should point out that ANA miles take a few days to actually transfer over. So you should have plans to book an ANA flight sometime soon if you transfer.

The Blue Cash Everyday is a cash back card only. The cards that earn points would be cards like the Green, Gold, and Platinum

Finding a booking with points that offers a good deal ends up costing me more time than saving. For instance, flights from Los Angeles to Japan in premium economy or business class on Air Canada and Virgin Airlines show little to no value, while ANA has all options waitlisted, locking your points indefinitely until confirmation is received, regardless of the date on all those airlines. No first-class options seem to be available on any airline. Many of these types of videos gloss over the fact that these redemption methods are not EASY ways to redeem. Let me know if I'm missing something.

I used 150k points to get a $1500 iMac two years ago. Could have used the points for a business class ticket or a couple of fancy hotel nights. I use the iMac almost daily and it's a great computer, I got great value out of it. Flying once business would have been great for a few hours and a great memory but that would have been that. I think you have to look at redemptions on a basis of what is personally valuable to you as well, not necessarily just the cents per point.

That’s still dumb unless you can’t afford $1500 to buy a computer….the points don’t expire. The smart way is to pay $1500 for the computer then use the 150k points for a business class round trip to extract max value. The difference between cattle class vs business is 4-6k usd…do the math

But I sure got the value of using the computer.. either way my point is also looking at it from a personal value perspective. But you are correct as well I’m not denying that.

You’re all wrong lol. Transfer the points to a Charles Schwab brokerage account and it’s 1.2 and you can spend it how you’d like. You could buy two computers for the price of the points you’ve used. Or you could have invested the points as money (money doesn’t expire) and booked in cash and gotten MORE points. You’re welcome 😂

Round trip first class? How did you find it? Virgin Atlantic? I didn’t find any on United and hate calling virgin (none when I called twice) so when I saw 2 one way first class and 1 one way business class on ANA website, I booked it directly for a lot of points and cash 😭

While these redemptions are tough to search for and find, the end value is so worth it. My first Amex points redemption was for 4 nights at a Choice hotel in Maui. Not your typical transfer partner compared to Hyatt or airlines, but the room had a king bed in a separate bedroom, full kitchen, living room area and even a small patio, and it was situated right across the street from the beach in Kihei. It normally would've cost $1,700 for the 4 nights including daily resort fees. I was able to redeem the 4 nights for just 48K points and $200 in resort fees. Doing the math, I got 3.125 cents per point, no way was I going to pass that up.

This doesn’t make sense. How do you find those flights or hotels for so few points? I’m looking at Amex transfer partner Marriot Bonvoy and the Courtyard hotel is 202,000 pts or $1,050 for 3 nights. Which is a terrible cpp. What am I not understanding?

I guess AMEX has a different point redemption rate, I'm in canada and the pt converts at 1000pt = $13.... it's honestly not bad. The flight deals in canada are terrible, like aeroplan is basically 1 to 1 transfer, and AC's pt to flight conversion is also terrible.

Credit card points are alive as long as you have an active card that earns points. For example, I had an Amex platinum card years ago and every day card but I closed the plat after a year, the points are alive since the everyday also earn points and I left that open

Thanks for the tip….Planning a trip to Bali and wanted to fly ANA….Singlehandedly, Amex points or bilt points may not be enough to book but after taking your tip, found out Emirates and aeroplan are shared by both Amex and bilt. Also found out aeroplan is partnered with ANA. How about using Aeroplan to allow me to fly ANA?

Kind of an old comment but figured it may help. ANA first class is hard to book, call virgin Atlantic at 3 am (min wait time) for availability and then transfer the points to buy. I hate calling and spotted 2 ANA first class on ANA website so I booked it with 100K points + $600 fuel fee per.

I booked a lot of openings for one way first class and waited for a business opening but then they were increasing the fuel fee to $800 so I just brought an economy and first class round trip before the increase. I could have waited for the business opening but I didn’t want to use more cash. Virgin Atlantic way didn’t charge as much for fuel fee but I hate calling. People say you can check for openings on United award but I’ve never seen any spots above premium economy.
