Finally - Morningstar Has Amp Switching Control!

The Morningstar gear is great. They are feature packed, built well and all at a great price. One of my biggest frustrations with them however was no external switching / amp switching jacks / function switches - whatever you call them, Morningstar didn't have them until now.
Their new Relay Interface is easy enough to set up and works across a number of contexts and applications. Tap tempo on a Boss DD7, red remote control by JHS, muting on Underfacer and much more.

Just in case someone's curious In morningstar's midi controller, both pressing action and releasing actions are recognized separately from a single action. For instance, if you long press, then pressing, long pressing, and long releasing all of them will be recognized, and you can program the device to do separate things each step. (If you're not programming the preset to do something at long press tho, it seems it's recognizing long press release as a normal release) If you program it to toggle when you press it, and then to toggle when you release, then it will mimic what long press will do. Or, you can make it engage when you press it, then to disengage when you release. Or maybe the other way around, depending on the pedal you're using. Or while programming both press and release to toggle, you can add another toggle with a double tap, so whenever there's a pedal requiring opposite open/close behaviour, you can adapt without even opening up the editor. So, you don't need to assign two different switches to do muting and summing separately. You just need one switch to do that, just like a normal analog switch.

Wouldn´t it be possible to use a delay massage to get the 2000ms hold for switching the modes on the Underfacer? For that you have to use two massages each with 1000ms like this: 1.MSG: Engage 2.MSG: Delay for 1000ms 3.MSG: Delay for 1000ms 4.MSG: Disengage. With that you could switch the modes without looking. Or am i missing something?

Hey Grant! I'd LOVE to see a lot more Morningstar as I'm interested in getting the ML10X (maybe even two of them). I have the entire Boss 500 series and wants to control all sorts of parameters on them using MIDI, with expression pedals etc. I'm also planning to get two of their Relay Interfaces to control channel switching on two amps simultaneously. I just don't have a clue on how it all needs to be hooked up and combined 🤔 So, please more Morningstar and preferably weird, large and complex combinations of their products 😉

I can see the confusion... that's usually what the feature is called regardless of what it's used for. If your amp needs a momentary or latching switch you can use it just as I did in the video - you just need to know what your amp needs (or try both and see what one works!). Just don't do the 'tap' option or you will just turn your amp channel on and off a bunch of times.

Great functionality. But, the quality of the hardware is mediocre. I have had a couple of experiences where the mc6 has failed me. Also if I’m combining their different boxes to expand the functionality it’s a lot of wires and real estate.

Noted on hardware! I haven't had any issues but i'm also not a regular user. I'll be sure to kick and drop these a bit adn see how they do haha
