While he's a heart and soul player, the reason he didn't play much in the Finals the year before is because my grandmother could beat him in a one on one contest. It's not for lack of trying, but he's built like a malnourished teenager and barely wins any real 1v1 contests.

i love the romantic take of this as for the circumstances of his retirement, but really the whole back 6 outside of murph had worse years and daicos full time mid didnt help either. Its a team of 23, not one bloke

We are trying to make a media event out of something that has twists and turns, but there are a lot of things that go behind the scenes that I am not privy to knowing. I wonder if it takes this long as a minimum. I would rather see them make right decisions rather than rushed decisions. I do think that West Coast are crazy with their latest trade… and that is from a Geelong supporter! lol

John Noble is going to a great player for GC. Very unlucky not to be a premiership player.

Not really unlucky. Form was subpar leading up to finals. Was butchering kicks left, right & centre whilst losing every 1on1. Oleg was just in better form during that point and time. I’m a Pies fan and liked Noble but if he played the whole year and gets dropped a week before finals, then it was for a reason

Not unlucky but completely shafted. He rightfully should be p***ed off with his non selection in the 2023 GF side after playing most games in the 1s. Oleg is/was a headless chook compared to Noble.

I didn't realise that Atkins was still playing. A top-up SANFL player like Soldo. Would have been better to get another draft pick. Unless Lukosius becomes as good as Georgiades and goes ahead of Marshall, Lord, and Finlayson, this trade has failed. We've lost a great player in Houston. I would get rid of the trade period all together.

2 senior players in and moved back 9 spots in an even draft. They might also know who they want to take already and know he will get to 12. They did this with sheed many years ago and everyone like you said they were stupid for trading their pick 6 at the time. Pies went onto take sharenberg who was great but never played due to like 5 knees. Draft picks are no certainty. - not an eagles fan

Brad Johnson knows absolutely nothing about football. Houston to play on the wing? Stupid comment. And Lukosius is clearly going to play forward. He says there is no room for him in the forward line.. we only have one decent forward in Georgiades.

Lukosius for a future 1st rounder is fine.....but Houston effectively for 13 & 29 & some steak knives......cant believe Port agreed to such a bad deal, for the best half back flanker in the comp....we let the player get want he wanted, at the expense of our club, and our future.

Jack Lukosius has all the talent in the world BUT unfortunately the hard ball is not in his repertoire. He needs to bite the bullet and say "I'm going to toughen up", otherwise the parochial SA crowd will be on his back in no time.

@@BG-id2cv There are plenty already in that category, but his kicking skills in the forward line, are something we havent had for some time (Marshall excepted). I say he is a good get. Georgiades and Lord both have major defects in their kicking action, and are inaccurate as a result . In finals, you need key forwards who are good kicks, as few opportunities present, in comparison to minor round games.
