@@Saddoggiemm Hahahaha… I test rode the street 750 first and didn’t gel with it. The street rod had slightly more power as stock and with a stage 1 tune there's a definite difference. I ride I-35 between 38th and Georgetown. Nothing but congestion. The 1200 upright seating gives high situational awareness. The power for passing, on-ramps, and stop lights is immediate. It absolutely dominates Austin traffic. And it's neighborhood friendly. I'm tempted to buy the xsr700 to relive my earlier years.

I like that he taught someone on his Harley. Heavy bikes teach you instant respect. I was taught on a 1980's Suzuki GS1100ES (You always remember your first). That was a BEAST! But so much fun and so comfy. I was riding my teacher around as a passenger within 30-40 minutes. I like your honesty about the price of a XSR700. I bought a 2019 MT07 for $6,900 OTD cash. Not enough of a difference to warrant a jump of $2k for the XSR. I have a perfect beginner bike along with my Ninja 1000. It's a 1986 Yamaha SRX 600. It's just so much fun. Single 6, 5-speed, maybe 40-ish horse power. But it weighs 297lb. wet! He's so right about a bike with dual rear shocks. The back sinks in and that's when you know you're having fun.

As a Triumph Speed Twin owner , yeah a HD Street Rod could appeal, nice big flat torque bands, with the select almost any gear and it pulls characteristic. However I love my Speed Twin so much , I doubt I'd ever get rid of it !

Good video and pretty accurate. I own a '17 Street Rod also with the ABS option and it's also my first real bike. Had two Hondas as a kid (still own one of them too...an '81 CT70 that my dad bought new for me),and because I'm restoring my CT70 and it's technically street legal, I wanted to get my license. The local HD dealer ran a special for $49 that included everything, so I got a taste of all their personal marketing, which is quite genius. Live bands, free food, open bars and events on a regular basis are exactly why these bikes are priced a little higher, and in my opinion worth the lifestyle, so to speak. Guys that look like they want to do nothing but murder you are actually some of the nicest people I've ever met lol. If you've ever owned a boat, then it's very similar as to how nice everyone is. On to the Street Rod....I really like it. It's quite "advanced"when compared to some of the other Harley models. As told in your video, inverted forks, liquid cooled, 6 speed gearbox and adjustable reservoir shocks, plus a higher rev line than the air cooled engines makes this a great choice. And for the morons who say it's not American made? Yes it is. The ones made in India are only sold in India and NOT here in America. I got mine at a steal at year's end in 2018 for only $5900. It was barely used with only 720 miles on it and its got the ABS option. He's right in the video that it would be over $10k new. This is a very underrated bike. I noticed that Harley dropped the Street 500 for 2020 and renamed this model just simply Street Rod (prior years were called Street Rod 750 which confuses it with the Street 750.... very different bikes) which is smart.

I daily ride a 150cc yamaha vixion in heavy traffic pretty much every work day. Tried a 2014 1600cc H-D Dyna on an open road and in traffic, and the lesson you learn is the mindset you got to switch into when riding each and every category of motorcycle with their own characteristics, needs to be appropriately different from what you're used to in terms of how you mount, corner, and splitting lanes, and so on. I've also tried a ride on a Kawasaki ER6-n, it's got a nice powerful torque for its price, but the H-D just gave me another sensation and emotion of riding a motorcycle. I would consider myself as someone who appreciates the more conservative design language of the H-D heritage, but I've never ridden a V-Rod nor any of its descendants, so can't judge 'em when you haven't tried 'em.

I think it starts to put Harley in position to improve on the bike and make it better , slight adjustment on the pegs to give a better riding position and comfort also shorten the exhaust , open up ass end of the pipe side .. My put some pro taper bars on it .. Maybe a K&N style filter .. it will help wake it up ...

I just bought a 2017 street rod. I noticed the aftermarket rear blinkers and license plate mount. I’ve been looking for one to get rid of the stock one if one of y’all could point me in the right direction.

you forgot the most important difference the Harley is belt drive similar to the Buell Blast it's awesome for people who don't want to do chain maintenance every 300-500 miles
@sleeper.simulant73274 жыл бұрын
Law Abiding Citizen the new 1200 Evo in the sporties are extremely low maintenance. No valve adjustments, they don’t piss oil out everywhere, fuel injected so no carb adjustments....
@mountainbikerdave4 жыл бұрын
@@sleeper.simulant7327 what is that 13..16...$20,000? no thanks, not a good value unless you can pick one up for sub 4k used. but you can pick up a used Buell Blast for about $800. also very little maintenance and its one hell of a bike for that price.
@sleeper.simulant73274 жыл бұрын
Law Abiding Citizen you can get newer (2016, 2017) roadster 1200’s for relatively cheap, like $7000 with below 5k miles...
@mountainbikerdave4 жыл бұрын
@@sleeper.simulant7327 very true, but you can also get a brand new bike for $7,000 like a MT-07 or a used MT-10. I personally wouldn't spend more than 4k on a Harley because it's performance is around bikes that cost around 4k. but the sportster roadster does look very nice
@sleeper.simulant73274 жыл бұрын
Law Abiding Citizen the Yamahas feel so cheaply built though... If I’m going to buy a Japanese bike I’d get a Honda. MT07 feels cheap and the suspension setup was terrible for my weight... the engine is full of soul though. Over a Harley, a Triumph Street Twin or CB650R can be had for less money with significantly better performance, and top notch fit and finish...

V rods only have a 5 speed. A 6 speed would be nice since the 1130 and 1250cc harley revolution engines are fuel pigs. Love my 07 night rod special but i realistically get 110 miles out of a 5 gallon tank.

I Had a MT07, great engine, good brakes, stock suspensions issues that makes it dangerous getting in and out of corners. Now I have a Rebel 500, the riding position felt surprising on the showroom floor and very natural on the road. Decent engine, soft springs but good damping, brakes are meh but fixable with more aggressive pads, ground clearance is not amazing but decent. Overall I really like it, I can live with its flaws. However, if I had the opportunity to have a bike that handles similarly to my Honda with a bigger engine and one more disc at the front I would consider it. Which brings me here! I didn't really care about Harley motorcycles except for the 1200 roadster but the price is steep. This Street Rod seems like a good option, I'll have to test ride one once I can actually get out of my house!

Street Rod is nice. I own one. It is not as comfortable as the Rebel 500 but it is sportier and faster with better brakes. My last bike was a Kawasaki Vulcan S ABS which sounds mostly how you described you would like. Check it out. It is comfortable, great engine, great brakes, and handles better than any other cruiser I know of.

Did you get the 1100?
@ifrit352 жыл бұрын
@@samuelf8879 Nope. I test rode one. Torque felt good but it wasn't as nimble and it didn't fit me as well in terms of ergonomics. Also the DCT transmission was just bad.

Did you know that a set of Pirelli Angel GT2’s can fit the Street Rod. It looks so clean.

Test rode one and did not like the ergonomics at all. My knees were up too high, my heel hit the exhaust, and had to lean more forwars than I would like. I thought the hand controls felt cheap too. I tried to lime it, but couldnt.

Yammie you gotta review the Triumph Bobber Black. Its low and classic post WW2 esthetic classic bobber yet it has mid controls and all the modern bells and whistles hidden perfectly. Plus it is super flickable and a pure joy in the twisties. Do me proud and I'll chant your glory everytime I am manscaping for my remaining years. ✂️

Funny how you guys got jackets color coordinated with the swapped bikes you were riding😃. If I didn’t watch from the beginning, i would have thought you switched jackets too.

I wish you would give a relatively built Dyna or FXR a try man. I think you would enjoy that more than the Street Rod.

I had to ride the street 500 at my motorcycle safety course and I came home with my hips hurting on the first day so uncomfortable, terrible seating position and set up, not fun to ride at all.. Ive been riding 2 years on a crf250l dual sport and now also own a sportster 1200r and the sportster vs the street is night and day the sporty is much more comfortable and fun to ride. Please try a different model that bike is terrible and a reason everyone says “that’s not a real Harley”

Hey papa yam, on your cruiser saga, have you ever ridden a kawasaki vulcan s? Or seeing as you're not a ducatista, could you try a ducati X diavel S? I'd love to see a video of you riding something like that
