Just bought this guitar at Alamo Music Center in San Antonio. Fell in love with it instantly. As a previous owner of a GS Mini, this guitar added the perfect balance of volume, tone, scale length and playability I had been looking for. Plus, Chris, Cooper, and company provided excellent service. Thanks again, guys!

I have a 2016 114ce and it’s been a great instrument, it has the sapele back and sides. When I bought mine I compared it with the 214ce & 314ce and preferred the 114.

I own one! Love it! Had a Taylor rep (Rich) do a fit for me at my local music shop earlier this summer and this model just came out for the summer. I jumped at it (even had a discount from the original $800). Plays much better than my Yamaha FG840. Just needs to be adjusted for me with a lower action and ultra light strings. Now……..just a few days ago, Taylor introduced the 212ce and 222ce (i was previously in the market for a 214ce dlx).

Do you find the guitar to be unbalanced or "neck heavy"? I tried a 112 non-CE had to constantly keep it from falling while being seated.

Thank you, Chris and Cooper. Get two Taylor Guitars for a grand in the next three weeks is a great deal! I've enjoyed hearing Bob Taylor speak of his forty minute drive in one direction to Tecate, and the other direction to El Cajon. The equipment and training at both locations are practically the same, though the Tecate facility was designed from the floor up in a single expansive building, while El Cajon operations are housed in a number of buildings. I could see the two thin outer layers sounding better/different with a denser grained wood like rosewood (or other species). Taylor still makes arguable some of the best gig bags and cases on the market. (My Academy 12 has both. 😊) I held my daughter's Yamaha 730S dreadnought, but that was too big and uncomfortable for me to start with now, though she's enjoyed it since 4-H music camp (twenty?) years ago. A fan of the concert body (and one auditorium redwood/blackwood), so when my paramedic son-in-law and family visited last month, he asked me, "Buy any more guitars lately?" I was able to respond truthfully, "No. I bought a banjo, a NOS B-stock Gold Tone AC-5." (I didn't tell him that, given the discount and a review, I added a 5-string set of Gotoh banjo tuners for the future, and installed a satin curly maple armrest, that was needed. ) Like the DLT, my "Dad's Last Truck", I'm maintaining these instruments for my kids and grandkids... kzbin.info/www/bejne/mWOqfZZnjNeSm9k Great how-to on the Taylor ES-2 amplification system.

@@BkBk-gy6vr back when I got it it was only sapele. Mine sounds very bright no matter what, if I take the highs all the way out on the EQ on board it doesn't matter. It sounds great but it sounds like a taylor it's got that super bright sound.

@@BkBk-gy6vr once you plug it in you'll find the sweet spot but for me I always just take most of the high out of the EQ on the board and on my guitar and it's still bright enough but not too bright I just have to have no highs in the EQ at all.

After searching for a smaller body guitar to give my twice surgically repaired shoulder a break now and again, I found this guitar. It totally knocked the GT and GS mini out of the race. I wasn't looking for an Ovation cutaway. Yes, it is an Ovation, not a venetian cutaway cause no steel string, including Takamine, would have had cutaway without Ovation.😅

Glad they are bringing my favorite body shape to the 100 series BUT why did they make it long scale? I like the short scale of my Academy 12 because it feels slinkier than my Martin OM (long scale) and is a little easier for my short fingers to fret. Oh well. The 112 sounds good.

I find Taylors to be built very well, but when I compare them to other, often cheaper guitars, they don't sound as good, or play as well. Unfortunate, because I want to like them. My go-to are Crafters, and at this size I have a TCO-35, which is surprisingly loud. I absolutely agree with the reviewers about guitar size not mattering when plugged in. I'm not keen on piezo pickups, and prefer decent soundhole magnetic ones.

Somebody could help me in this? - Which one is more bassy, 112ce or 212.ce? I know that laminated backs sort of neutralize tone, still though, some sources show 212 as being more bassy and 112 more midrange(y).

I thought all guitars below, and including the 200 series were made in Mexico with the 1-11/16" neck width, does that not apply here to this Concert size ? GS, Academy, 100 & 200 series = Mexico, then the American Dream, 300 series and up, 1-3/4" neck width, USA
