This upgrade has not only improved the capabilities of the already scary A-ten but also made it a formidable rival, facing advanced threats head on without fear of losing in combat. General Ron Fogleman was a Wing Commander for the A-10s in the early to mid 70s at Canon AFB, NM. He moved there after bing Wing CO at MacDill with F-16s. He lamented going to that ugly airplane as he called it. Later on, he confided in me that the A-10 was one hell of an airplane. He went on to be 4 star Chief of Staff for the US Air Force. What a guy.

Sadly, that often is the case as they want a new toy. However, cooler heads prevailed in the case of the A-10. Best aircraft EVER for its designed roles.
