the sex ed joke was mocking how we lack sex ed in schools in america, and IF a school does teach it, it is usually brief and we are only taught about abstinence. Its funny cuz like, that scene is an exageration of the sex ed portion of a high school health class

Native Tennessean, It’s worse than bad here. The whole sex ed at my school was abstinence, STD study, abstinence, and outright LIES about contraceptive ineffectiveness. It would have been bad enough to leave a bunch of teens in the dark, but it still pisses me off that they outright teach them inaccurate and false information on top just to scare them away from condoms and other contraceptives. They taught that sex was only a great thing within marriage even during a time when gay and lesbian marriages were still illegal in this state, too.

To be fair, she's a cultural icon largely to women. She's done some big movies but the target audience of them is usually exclusively female, many of them fall into the romance genre. She quite literally could be as big as say Scarlett Johansson doing blockbuster after blockbuster but she either goes for romance, movies with interesting plots but don't really have mainstream appeal, or is used to prop up in your face humour by comedians long past their prime (owen wilson, colin ferrel, etc).

As a side note...no this is definitely not what most girls do :'D Even stereotypical "popular" girls I know are much cooler/nicer than anything like this. This is a very stereotyped/comedic version so keep that in mind! My real high school female friendships looked a lot more like staying up at night talking about the safest place to be in the apocalypse and loudly singing Hamilton in the halls between classes.

You don’t know a lot about American high schools. The way they portrayed in the movie is something you would see in suburbans. I did 2 years of my high school in Long Island and the rest in the the city. The one in Long Island had cliques, most of the kids used to hang out with their own kind. I don’t think the movie was trying to be racist. It’s one of the most iconic movies out there
