Hailey Steinfeld did an amazing job of playing a dead-on Kate Bishop from the Matt Fraction run in Marvel Comics' "Hawkeye" series. She's talented and confident yet quirky, awkward and more then a little bit of a screwup who gets herself into trouble more often than not.
@wtimmins2 жыл бұрын
She's had such a year!
@cupguin2 жыл бұрын
I mean not exactly. Fraction Hawkeye Clint is more of a screw up. Everything is going wrong in his life, from buying a car to buying a building everything goes wrong. Also by that point in Kate's superhero career she's incredibly experienced. The Young Avengers operated on their own going up against normal Marvel villains but also had a zany multidimensional catastrophe to handle. So she's confident because she's helped to save the world more than once. Clint reaches out to Kate because of how talented she is, which he's acknowledged for most of their relationship. She has more problems when she's trying to start her life by herself in LA but it's never a question if she can do the job on her own. It's not quite reversed for the series but Clint has his life a more together in the show and Kate is a lot less together. Their dynamic also has Kate a lot more judgemental about Clint's life and his failings unlike the show where Clint is frequently dubious about her ideas. They do a great job of the essence of the Fraction run focusing on Clint's humanity while he routinely fights gods and monsters. The tracksuit mafia, pizza dog, Grills, it's a lot of nice touches that reference the series even if they've all been changed.

in this fast-paced world of Marvel content, I sorta forgot how much I loved this series. it's cool to sort of watch it again along with fresh eyes. i honestly think this has been one of the best things Marvel has done in the last few years. Steinfeld and Renner are great, its a good story, and it fills in nice little details. people always deride Hawkeye as the worst Avenger, but I disagree- he and Nat were the heart of the group. i'm having a blast re-watching this with ya. :)

21:08 "Rozumiesz to?" means "You understand?" in polish Best about this series is deffinitly a polish insertions by Piotr Adamczyk, i know that only polish people could see this as something funny but damn, he screaming "UWAGA!" when arrow already hit other guy, that's hillarious

Clint's kids learned at least a little sign because dad learned sign due to being hard of hearing. My stepfather has a hearing aid and learned sign, and we learned some of it as well in case it ever got to the point where we needed to use it to communicate with him, like when he doesn't have his hearing aid in or on and we need to tell him something.

Glad you are watching this! It was the perfect Christmas show for me-I'm a real Christmas guy AND an archer-and has just the right amount of comedy with the action. Steinfeld is awesome in this. Can't wait to watch you watch the rest!

The musical number was written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman. They've done some pretty awesome musical number like Hairspray. The end credit scene for the final episode of this series is the full version of this. It's awesome (at least to me).

To be honest, I always thought of Hawkeye as the least of the Avengers, so I went into this show with low expectations. But I ended up really enjoying it! Glad that you are reacting to it Natalie.

The Rogers: the Musical bit was written by Marc Shaiman. There's a really wonderful episode of the youtube series "Wait in the Wings" which is an entire fake documentary about the behind-the-scenes story of Rogers: the Musical. Highly recommended.

'Lucky The Pizza Dog' is from the comics and is famous for ... you guessed it... loving pizza (he was also originally Clint's dog (who is a stereotypical hopeless bachelor with a string of bad relationships, rather than a family man with a stable marriage), so feeding a dog pizza is pretty typical of him. Now that Kate 'rescued' Lucky from Clint ... he still gets pizza but only as a sometimes food.

Clint being embarrassed when the restaurant bought them dinner is very grounded in the real world. I've heard from many vets that they don't know what to do or say when someone tells them "thank you for your service. It's a bit sad that Grills wished he was a super-hero. The man's a firefighter; what's more heroic than that?

You should probably watch daredevil(tv show) . There is one character that shows up here that was introduced in daredevil.

I liked these series way more than I thought I was going to. I remember watching the trailers and thinking "this looks like a funny and silly christmas series, I'll have fun" but it was more than that, I liked the cast, the overall plot which even if it is kind of predictable at some points, it did enough to make me doubt about some things, on the other hand, I really do appretiate how self aware it is

The dog and track suit mafia are directly out of the comics. The dog always ate pizza, and the mafia are famous for always using the word "bro" and of course wearing red track suits. The deaf girl will become another Marvel character/series "Echo".

Lucky the pizza dog is a character in the comics. He first appeared in the Hawkeye series this show's mostly referencing, but in the comics the one who saved him from the car accident was Clint (and I think it got hit by the car in the comics).

Yay Nat. So happy you're doing this. Hawkeye is my favourite marvel comic book character since I was around 10, and I have every one of his comic book appearances. I was very worried about this show when announced but, it's fantastic. maybe even better than Loki, from a storytelling perspective... Hope you like it.

Hawkeye killed a bunch of Gangsters all over the world in the guise of the Ronin, he killed them because he felt that those who are bad deserved to die. As he said to the Japanese guy at the start of Endgame, that his family got Thanos, and they got him.

Not only was Lucky the Pizza Dog a thing in the comics, but in the Matt Fraction series this show is based on they actually did a story from the dog's point of view. It was sorta genius. On a related note it took me an embarassingly long time to pick up on the Larp guy being named 'Grills' since his character is so different. This show is 2nd only to "Loki" in my estimation of the Disney+ Marvel shows. Though the way Moon Knight is going, that ranking might be in jeopardy.
