Seth, I have the tool for you. I made this shovel a while back that is the shape of a military folding shovel, but longer and with a steel handle. We call it the isak, This thing will go through anything, it is the main tool I use, and it will go through 1 inch brush in 1 swing, dig through roots and crap like it's not even there, and take out stumps in a matter of seconds. The thickets would be no problem for this tool. I have thought about sending you one many times, but idk if it would be of use to you as it is to me, as I feel like since I built it I am baised.

@TViper23694 жыл бұрын
My son (12 years old) introduced me to this channel and I've been following along since late last year. Because of these videos he got all excited about wanting to build a ramp for his bike. So we did just that last weekend. Well, it was supposed to be a ramp, turned out to be something that is not suitable for jumping, but just to ride over. We've learned a few lessons to apply for Ramp 2.0. Never the less, he's enjoyed it and looks forward to the next one we build. I say that to say "go build your ramp, it's a fun activity."

Viper 2369 Epic, any advice? 😀
@TViper23694 жыл бұрын
@@jacobg1219 When you draw it out, it's not going to look as steep as it is when you actually cut it. Secondly, most likely you will think "12 inches isn't that high, let me go higher." That's not needed. He gets up and over it, even gets the front tire in the air a bit, but his front sprocket keeps hitting/dragging on the top because of these 2 mistakes.

As a kid, I used to enjoy riding my mountainbike in the forest, so when I saw the videos on this channel, that fire lit up again. Yesterday I shred through a dryed out river, had some fast downhill sections, crossed a river on a tree that had fallen over it (and fell into the water 7 times before I got it right) - thank god for Seth and everyone involved in this channel, you reminded me that life is more than just work and chasing personal records on the road.

@@Driver8takeabreak I hope some of it stays loam and dirt, after all, instead of getting filled up with wooden features. Couldn't find the specific video, but I swear Seth early on stated something like Stumpthorn would have the jump lines and wacky features whereas Moonshangle would be tight, twisting, handcut singletrack. It's awesome what he's doing with his woodshop, but it would be cool to see the different areas maintain different characters and work with their natural terrain. That said, I like the idea of inserting a new Drama Drop (Oscar Drop!) somewhere, and this might fit in best amongst the steeper terrain of Moonshangle.

Great stuff as usual! The soil that we (MTBers) typically all refer to as “loam” tends to be organic topsoil. Loam (scientifically/geologically) is a balanced blend of sand, clay, and silt (referred to as “gold” by trail builders here in BC... and elsewhere I’m sure). We look for pockets of it near new sections of trail or while doing repairs and will cart it a fairly long distance if needed. In opposition to “loamers”, trails surfaced with real loam tend to be more durable and drain well. Sorry to intrude with this, just thought aspiring builders may find it interesting.

Hey Seth, I just wanted to say I found your channel through your intro to mountain biking series. I admit it's not what I was looking for but I'm glad I found it. I'm a big guy who bought a mountain bike because the roads where I live are dirt and gravel and I wanted to continue to get in shape. I started at 345lbs and am down to 311lbs since January when I decided to get a bike to push myself farther. I was just looking to get some bike information since the last time I rode a bike was about 20 years ago and it wasn't anything at all fancy. Since watching more and more and more of your videos though I want to take it further when I get into better shape by hitting actual mountain biking trails, and your videos alone have done a lot in letting me know that my bike is more rugged and ready than I thought for the bumps and hills where I live. I experimented just going down some small hills in the yard to get some good speed and I think I've gotten the bug in me for wanting to go faster on different kinds of terrain. Just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to this through your videos and I look forward to dropping more weight and eventually hitting a proper trail if not constructing my own features one day :)

As a hardtail rider, I've really been loving seeing you use the hardtail more!! @10:00 is so sick! Super excited to see how Knob Deep and the other sections in Moonshangle evolves

Hey Seth! Love your videos, maybe you could make a “Day in the life of Seth” so we can see the whole process of how you make a video! Keep up the great work! EDIT: you haven’t built any drops or rock gardens yet

So so good. It's real awesome how hard you work to get the trail to its best. Kudos man!!

I've been tinkering away on my backyard trail. So far it's a figure 8, more or less, so it's nice to be able to do laps while my kiddos are napping!

I find myself constantly looking at how much time is left in the video like “no! There’s only a minute left!”😂

It is a rainy day and I have been getting my daily dose of trail building on Berm Peak. I noticed that every video has between 275-325 dislikes. Are these the same haters over and over again? Seth, ignore the haters and keep cranking out the goods.

One of the best Berm Peak videos so far! Keep it up!

Seth, from watching your videos ive decided to build a course behind my house as well. Just finished my first trail and it feels great. That sense of accomplishment. It would be great if you liked or responded

You should build a small shelter area at the bottom of moonshangle that all the future trails should end at. You could then build an access road from that shelter back up to the house for hiking and the 4 wheeler. (Maybe a straight-shot jump line on the side of the road?)
@n8_vel8684 жыл бұрын
8:39 You gotta put a little dirt jump there. That would be perfect ✔️

I love this video. Need more trailbuilding timelapses. It's so satisfying. Especially since I know how hard it is and don't have enough free time to do it myself.
