People say that a portfolio tends to compound after 100k. Well mine was 25k, the moment it hit 25k, I felt that as long as I continued contributing,it reached 30k pretty quickly, then 35k, then 40k. I just focused on 5k increments at a time.

A great tip ..... don't listen to this guru lol

The effects of compounding are more profound with larger sums invested, but it compounds nonetheless

You're really good but sometimes I have no idea how you who states spending many years in the debt trap, can so easily let it roll off your tongue that people will earn millions over their careers. Are you sure that those working in fast food outlets or cleaning services will earn millions over 40 years? You're a great advocate to teach financial planning but I don't see much out there for those who have limited surplus for investment and pension. I spent half my working life unable to save into any pension but at least I am now in a DB scheme adding avc's. I count myself lucky. Can you create or update any content for those with less?

It’s a valid point….I think one of the biggest problems nowadays are the barriers that are there for people who want to improve their standing in life. Back in the 80s I worked in McDonalds full time…can’t even remember what the wage was but I can tell you it was a pittance. I was able to better myself because I was able to take night classes in computing and programming, which led to a degree in Software Engineering and a 30 plus year career as a Software Engineer. Those courses I took and hard work changed my life. Today I think it’s much more difficult to do that - even though I had to pay for my courses they were heavily subsidised, so although it was a struggle I did manage to pay for them. I’ve been looking at courses today, many cost hundreds of pounds even evening courses, and some I’ve seen cost several thousands of pounds. How is someone on a low wage who wants to better themselves going to afford that. It’s a scandal, people should not be bared from education, and bettering themselves simply because they do not have the money. People on a low wage (of which there are many) should not be forgotten, when it comes to pensions, finances, education, and improving their standing in life.

Financial planning is inherently only applicable to those with financial resources. The advice is not applicable to those living hand to mouth. They can follow standard advice applicable to everyone such as maxing their pension contributions. But if you don’t have money in the short term, then why would advice on investment portfolios be of any use to them. They simply first need to make more money, and he’s not going to tell them how to do that. That’s not the purpose of the channel.

There seems to be an unwritten rule in financial content that people at the very bottom are completely fucked. Or at least that being financially savvy isn’t going to save them
@ThaTurminator2 ай бұрын
@@joemacdougall9205 is it not correct that the people at the very bottom are Fk’d? There is financial Content for that audience and it’s around simply making more money. That comes first. The content in THIS particular video is for a different audience. The advice is therefore completely different. There’s nothing wrong with that. Poor people don’t need accountants or financial advisers. They need that once they reach either: wealth, OR a level of income which (if managed right) will allow the accumulation of wealth.
