100% agreed!! The biggest strength of this book is Aciman’s writing style, but the overall “age gap love” thing is a bit too redundant and Sami’s story is too long and it wasn’t as entertaining as Elio’s.

Samuel's part made me so uncomfortable!!!😅....I remember going, "We came here to read about a romance between your son and his boyfriend! Not read about the sex between you and your girlfriend! Give us Elio's mom back!"...but I really enjoyed the last part of the novel....Wonder if they are gonna make it into a movie...

Hahahahaaa I felt the same way! Where is the mom?? I'm pretty sure they're filming the sequel! And maybe we'll learn to love Samuels story in it.. maybeee

Yeah, Elio's mom was magnificent. What a downer.

@@JuliaaClairee Elio's mom and dad got a divorce. That's why she's not in the book.

I just finished this book, and I did not like it. I wish that Aciman included more of Oliver and Elio together, the ending just did not give me closure on their relationship. I also just think Samuel's part in the book is just unnecessary.

I agree its sooo long! And we all read it for Oliver and Elio

It should had been focused on Elio and Oliver. Idk why the author decided to expand it with Elio’s father. Doesn’t make sense.

I think Elios father met a younger woman because when they talked with each other on those chairs looking out at the ocean his father said he regretted some things in his past life. Maybe he regretted not meeting his true love who was a younger woman. Idk this is just thoughts I have.

Yes, you are right. To kompensate for what he missed when he was younger

i LITERALLY just finished reading it. I have to say I got a little influenced by the people who told me the book disappointed their expectations. Even though I LOVE the way André Aciman writes the stream of thoughts of his characters, and I loved the way he described Sami and Oliver's views, I did not like the book. As you said in the video, the conversations were too unrelatable and the relationships between the characters were moving way too fast. I loved how everything was slow in Call Me By Your Name, and I feel like this book kind of ruined the magic. The last chapter felt extremely plain to me, but I liked the last sentences. I must admit I read Call Me By Your Name during the first lockdown, I was a teenager feeling my first real crush and I was extremely fragile. Plus I was very into the Folklore by Taylor Swift mood so everything made the whole experience 100% more enjoyable and magical. This time, everything felt plain, I think Aciman should've left everything as it was, or, if he really wanted to continue this story, he should've written about the years of separation between Elio and Oliver, and the pain of the distance, the pain of trying to move on.

The age gap love is kind of one of the main themes of the series so I find it complimentary

I tried to do some maths to find out everyone’s age, and I came to conclusion that Elio is 42 (17+25), so that makes his father around 60-65 which makes Miranda 30-33. I don’t have a big problem with age gaps, but when he partner is younger than their kids makes me so uncomfortable. Also the part where Miranda confesses her love for her brother and then them going to get ice cream like nothing happened? I might be too fast to come to conclusion that I don’t like it because after that part I couldn’t even finish it.

Thank you for your comments on FIND ME. You ask us to tell you why there is an agegp between Ellios father and the vöoman he meets on the train. But ofcourse. Eliots father told Eliot, conforting, that he had been close to, but never had surederd to "difrent", special love. And that he envyed Elliot. And now, finally he dears. Thats why the writer choose the agegap.

I've just started reading the book. And after turning the pages 95 time in hope that maybe in the next page I'll see Elio and Oliver, I have come to the reviews on KZbin to know when the heck the duo will arrive. The name of the girlfriend is Miranda.

I just finish the book, maybe with the same expectations you had. Maybe the main problem with this book is how unrealistic the characters are

Also, something I did hate was Oliver thinking like Elio. I mean, in capricho or something, Oliver was so overthinking and the way he sees details of other people, is the exact same way Elio did it in Call Me... So... I dont get it! Why?
