As always, good information. I just closed in Dabney 3 weeks ago and everyone has been awesome so far. Robin, I'm 99.99% sure you gave bad information concerning all permanently disabled veterans being exempt from taxes in FL. It has to be "Service Related Injury" to qualify. I'm a veteran and paralyzed, my injury was not service related, therefore I didn't qualify under that exemption. That being said, I did qualify for being exempt, due to the fact that I'm a quadriplegic. Love your attitude and vids.

You have to have a letter from the VA stating that you are honorably discharged and service-related total and permanent disabled for tax emption. You can get a $5,000 tax exemption for 10%-90% service-related disability.

@@2unruly Yes this is different than what she had mentioned in the video. I just don't want veterans flocking here thinking they're exempt, because they are permanently disabled. I didn't qualify for full exemption, because my injury wasn't service related. I fell under quadriplegic exemption, I had to fill out separate forms and also have 2 physicians sign off that I was a quadriplegic.

Robyn- you are totally missing the point - THE JOURNEY is everything- that’s the fun part of living here. I live in Fenney and go to Spanish Springs via GOLF CART- it’s awesome- the wildlife we see, the people, the yards, the sky !! EVERYTHING IS FUN in a golf cart even chores.

@@Satjr35031 I don't mind the extra time required via golf-car vs. car...but I see Robyn's point also as for many people (maybe even most), the destination is the focus, not the journey. For me, it's kind of 50-50...so I'd be doing a lot of cruising around with my golf-car just for fun mainly, but ALSO (as a newbie to The Villages) getting familiar with the HUGE area The Villages covers. But then that's what I do everywhere I live: Explore in and around my city (~60-mile radius all around, in the 3 states I "frequent" -- TX, NM & CO) -- except I do it in my car/truck as no golf-carts/cars are allowed here (or even possible) as it's not a golf-cart community. MOST places most of us live aren't. But I DO drive kind of slow "enjoying the journey." After all, what's the hurry? At the same time though I do the speed limit at the very least (vs. annoying/slow-poke Sunday Driving). Whatever, in The Villages I'd be using a golf-car a lot. I think. ;-) And to help avoid getting lost, I could always use a Garmin GPS...I don't except I'd be too far from one from one major streets in The Villages (Buena Vista, El Camino Real, Morse, Meggison, etc.) so I could always get back to them and re-orient myself. Hopefully. ;-) -- BR

Being retired, we much prefer to travel by golf car. We don’t play golf but love the scenery and the wildlife. Can’t get the experience in a car. We use our car mainly when we have to leave The Villages to take care of business.

It is my opinion, though I live 850 miles away, that couples that live in the Villages should purchase a Golf Cart. There are 100 miles plus of paths to traverse. It could mean being able to have just 1 vehicle, and the cart. I know a lot of people in the Villages drive their carts to the Grocery store. ( Carts are not inexpensive )

It’s kind of a fallacy about tax bills being capped at 3% for homesteaders. I believe it’s the mileage rate that is capped but by being generally increased by budget approval annually your actual bill can be way over 3 percent and that’s all over the State.

The bond and CDD are not combines they are 2 assessments on the tax bill. The bond can be paid off the CDD never goes away
