that is cordite i think, its to give mortar shells more range if needed, its goes on the bottom of the mortar shell

I think those might be what are called increments for a mortar weapon. Increments were explosive charges/propellant discs that attached to the fins of mortar bombs in order to change how far and high you wanted the mortar bomb to go. I may be wrong, but they look real similar anyway.
@Russellsagecline6 жыл бұрын
Those rings are called "Increments", for attaching to mortar rounds.

Those little rings around the base of the bomb are called increment charges, which can increase or decrease the range depending whether or not the increments are left on or taken off.

I run metal detecting tours in the Czech Republic and there's one place we always go near Kutna Hora, German camp. I always build a fire pit for lunch. Built on accidentally on top of a shell or something, blew a 1m wide hole in the ground and sent everybody's steaks into the trees.

I think its a big Problem if you cant speek german language. It is not a zunderbüchse so that you can think it would be something explosive. Zunder was originaly the name of the mushroom who was used in a dryed condition to make a fire. Later ist was/is used for nearly everything which is used to make a fire. It is like a normal dry cloth, Not an explosive. I Know that the word "Büchse" is also a Name for a gun but normaly ist means tin or can. So ist is a tin with something inside to make a little fire for example with Flint and Steel. Sorry if my english is not so good and greetings from Germany

Those fuse holder go for $5 at most feamarkets in east germany mostly for 88mm shells you never want to find non german bombs on your own land as you will be billed if they allied or ussr and the boster charges will get a knock at the door by the cops even 1 live bullet can land you in shit & anything from the war you dig up you can't legally keep, found out the hard way in 2018! cops don't need warrents and most of the they take it to resell they are corupt as hell

Very professional diggers, tacking stuff home whem you don’t know what you’re dealing with. Mygormagr s almost correct only the charges are not explosive but containes a sot of gunpowder. This gives the mortarround a greater radius. It shoots furter with these rings on te mortartail....

Like what you are doing but damn, that part of the video at 9:00 and on....made my butt pucker. Being that close to an old, unstable piece of explosive... Amazing, for probably every piece you find, there are still 10 in the ground, thumbsucking, but should be a lot. Wees veilig!
@hildetoepoel8123 жыл бұрын
This seems very unlikely. A capsule about 70 years old, buried in the ground, must have eroded. Unless it concerns very high quality material. In addition, it is also very unlikely that a capsule is so easy to open for so long in the ground. In addition, it is very risky to remove an unknown object from the ground in this way.
@sirnamenloss47917 жыл бұрын
6:23 could be from a canonbarrel so the you can put ammunition in from behind an close it afterwards

how deep do your metal detectors scan?
@IronMikeMetaldetecting3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the soil (and if the soil is wet or dry) the size of the object and how the object is 'positioned' in the ground. In general: A detector could pick up a German helmet as deep as 1,50 meter. A coin probably as deep as 40 cm.
