Hi Iron Mike. Just wanted to say I like your style and 'no nonsense' approach to this excellent hobby. It's good to see stuff you find is quite often what I have dug up. It helps with my identification. Good luck. Kind regards from U.K. That's a great find at 11.10 👍 love finding mechanical items like this. Perfectly safe, inert and more importantly.....keepable.

the object at 10.55 you couldnt identify is the end of a leg from a tripod mount for an MG42 or 34. the little handle on the side is used to extend the legs and lock them in place. from a dreyfus mount for anti aircraft use.

in the 80's we founds piles and piles of German weapons/ammo/helmets/badges ...mines, mortar rounds, grenades, artillery rounds, uniforms, belts and buckles, flags and pennants, documents (soldbuch) ID dog tags, boots, knives, bayonets, coins......etc etc etc.....sold/traded most of them except ammo, grenades, mortar rounds, artillery rounds......we also traded Hershey chocolate bars for banners and flags, traded an Elvis Presley 45 record for a nearly new German sub machine pistol and two full ammo magazines. Found lots of eagle and swastika stamped knives and forks and spoons. Found several canteens and their belt pouches. All kinds of Nazi magazines and posters. Could get handfuls of Nazi lapel pins and badges for 1 german at the weekend flea markets. Swords and their cases were in bundles and one sword could be had for one US pack of cigarettes.

@IronMikeMetaldetecting8 жыл бұрын
@berdyq8 жыл бұрын

Looks too big to be a 20 mm also there is usually a thicker reinforcing band just after the extractor groove. The rim is too big as well so think he was right saying it’s Russian. The german casings were always well marked with year and manufacturer.

I guess you realize this is a death ground, all those bits of clothing and personal items belonged to dead soldiers, you never found any human remains or tags? Not to be macabre, but their is a family I know digging relics in the Philippines and they regularly find Japanese remains, if they find identification they contact an agency still active in Japan to return the remains to the relatives, It is very important to Japanese culture. Of a more relic oriented topic they have unearthed several 500 pound US bombs, and trenches filled with cases of grenades, all of which the cheerfully display (still loaded) in their private museum, the big bombs they actually defuse and empty themselves believe it or not.
@IronMikeMetaldetecting5 жыл бұрын
