The reason DMC 2 sucked was because, only 4 months prior to its release Hideaki Itsuno was put in charge. Prior to that the game only had a rough narrative , and some design elements. Hideaki Itsuno salvaged the trash fire in 4 months, making the game remotely playable. He pushed out the game to meet the release date, so he could make DMC 3. The game fundamentally sucks but for 4 months of work, its functional

Personally, I found the boss rush to be fun. Going from getting destroyed by Cerberus and unlocking easy mode, to destroying HIM without getting hit once was one of the best feelings ever, same with all the other bosses. And while the story isn't perfect, I still thnk its good. It's simple, but its effective and the final fight with Vergil is still my favourite final boss of any game ever. DMC1 probably has the best atmosphere out of the first three, with the third being a very close second. That's the reason why I play it. This is one of my biggest frustrations with KZbinrs and people who play games in general. There IS a difference between remasters and remakes that should be adressed. Remasters are simply porting the game to a newer system with some higher res textures and some bug fixes (or more bugs if it's a bad one.) Remakes are from the ground up rebuilt versions of older games that require much more money and time. Remasters are imo essential to game preservation as well as bringing series to newer players who don't own those consoles. Remakes, while holding their own place, are ultimately unnecessary most of the time.

You can set it up so it goes sword, not-sword, sword, not-sword, sword, not-sword. All the convenience of a 2 weapon loadout with all the options of a full loadout. You can even do like I did and form associations between a sword and a notsword to keep the order straight in your mind, i.e. Sparda and Balrog are kinda like DMC1 weapons, rebellion and cerberus are kinda like dmc3 weapons, DSD and cavaliere are the new hotness. "And he can only carry one weapon at a time" you can actually switch weapons by pressing the right stick. I assume you haven't even touched the right stick since you don't even talk about taunting in DMC1. Or in DMC at all. Which is what makes it a completely different experience from the likes of other action games. There's so much more to DMC1 than "oh yeah there's like this combo and this combo and this combo", it's about being stylish against opponents that tower you and your puny health bar. Playing on DMD is what any real fan of the franchise should at least try, because it really makes you think about what you're doing and how you're doing it. Taunting isn't only useful for style but it also restores DT gauge in DMC1. It seems to me that you only scratched the surface of what DMC really is. It doesn't remove any of your personal enjoyment of the game, but it definitely misrepresents the game itself. Except DMC2, that shit's poopoo.

It's faster than going in the menu and swapping your weapon out, but it puts you at risk of getting hit
@M7S4I5L8V2A5 жыл бұрын
@@KBash I don't think you mentioned Round Trip at all either but it's pretty useless unless you know how to weapon switch. You can only switch between Alastor and Ifrit and Round Trip allows for the only weapon switch combo. Also like other games DMC 2 can be fun if you don't cheese it. I know guns are powerful but there's enough there to have fun with. Things like Aerial Rave, Gunslinger, and Trickster started there. Gunslinger is equal to SwordMaster, it's just not as easy to combo with guns. The addition of a third weapon slot would have made it a lot easier to. "I can't figure out why you'd ever bother" Well, I can tell you. It's one word: Style. DMC1 may not have been designed with it in mind, but DMC is flashy at it's core. It's about doing absolutely *everything* you can and being the craziest motherfucker on screen while you do it. If you can, you can juggle those mother fuckers all in the air and SSS them up before anyone touches the ground. The pistols help with that. With well-timed presses and switches, you can have them all in the air in a beautiful buttjuggle. Like I said, DMC 1 wasn't designed with this in mind. But that could be a reason as to why someone would do it. It definitely is in latter installments, i.e; 4, the one I played most.
@JohnSmithson9995 жыл бұрын
Yeah exactly. Although honestly I always thought of ebony and ivory in DMC as the equivalent as the 'manual' in the Tony Hawk games, something to keep your combo going when closing distance on an enemy with the penalty of doing it too long affects the score multiplier. Devil May Cry is an arcade game about player expression, so when someone says "I can't figure out why you'd ever bother" or "This is boring", chances are the game is only boring since you are playing in boring way. You get out what you put in.

What about DMC3: Special Edition (ps2)? Is that one harder than the vanilla version of 3 on the ps2? I'm crashing through the Ninja Gaiden games (xbox and ps3) and need another challenge. Oh and by crashing I mean those games are using my head as a battering ram. Or a better analogy is a punching bag. That scene in your review of MGS Rizing with Raiden pounding the abs of the boss is like what these games are doing to my brain. (I gotta stop playing them on Master Ninja difficulty...)

13:02 - The exact opposite of Dante. Inverted colors, female gender, angel like devil trigger. Yep, her design was that painfully basic. 18:48 - For that is the beauty of DMC, it's a one player only fighting game where the only human player opponent you fight....is yourself.... 21:53 - Yeah whenever they say this story is good they are solely referring to Dante's growth from apathetic douchebag to person who gives a shit, that and the whole duality he shares with Vergil both in story context and game play, just solely all the themes of family and responsibility and shit......the kind of story that would have done just fine without a scene where it takes several minutes just to whack a giant button with a sword >:/ 22:16 - YEAH! FUCK THIS BOSS!

It was a translation error ingame. Nero Angelo means "Black Angel". Not sure how they messed up, but they did.

@@yakuzashibe I'm aware of the translation error, but I had also assumed that the others had just gotten used to it by now and, if the name is ever brought up again, will stick with the mistranslated name. In any case, I still highly prefer using Nero Angelo.

7:48 If Dante was scared when seeing the spider, it would've been the equivalent to the Ridley scene in Other M, it would be out of character for the main character since fighting those types of enemies is normal for them for god knows how long.

Yeah, I'm that one guy who started out on DMC2 >.< I will admit that that it has a lot of problems though, but I do think it gets overly hated at times, personally, I consider it better than the first game, but that's likely only because of nostalgia for the game that got me into the franchise

Hey KBash This Is The First Video I Have Ever Watch From You. I Agreed With You On Most Things You Said But Not All. The Things I Disagree With Is Dante and The Story. DMC 1 Story Was Bail Bonds But The Game Didn't Focus On It. It Give Us Characters Back stories and Motive It Wasn't Great But So Wasn't A Lot Of Games Back Then. DMC 2 Story Is Not Good For A Main Game But For A Side Game It Could Have Been A Great Backstory For His Dad or The War. DMC 3 Story I Love It How Dante and Vergil Interest Together and How Lady and Her Dad Falls In Line With The Story Is Amazing and To Me The Game Doesn't Makes Me Hate Vergil It Make Me Love Him For The Challenge and The Personality and Dante. I Don't Really Think No Fans Thinks He Was A Crazy Badass Character In The First 2 Games He Was A Little In The First One But Not Really In The Second One and Plus DMC 1 Was A New IP Then They Didn't Know How He Was Going To Tune Out and It's Not Like It Came Out Of Nowhere. Like He Was Some Kind Of Angry Half God In The First Game Then The Couple Of Games After That He Was A Calm Dad and The Game Being Hard Is Not A Bad Thing It Give You The Tools You Need So Use Them.

I played dmc3 on ps2 waay back and while I do agree that the punishing aspect of restarting the mission if you die was a bit harsh but it also raised the stakes. I recently tried the remake on a emulator and was a bit shocked on how much that game trivialities items, on the original version there was no shame using items the first time around while learning the mechanics and behavior of bosses because of the punishing aspect of dying. In the remake they might as well remove items all together because the game practically rewards you from dying with how it maxes out your hp without any consequences. If you enter a boss fight without max hp just let yourself get killed and there you go, in the same way easy mode was a good way to help with the learning curve of a game with punishing and meaningful deaths instead is reduced to kink shaming the player for not being good enough.
