In all honesty, I'd rather have a break-down like that when it happened than in the spring when trying to get beans in the ground with weather coming in!

All will be happiness HEE HAA HEE HAA (Jack imitation). I would bet you could get a 3.5-inch cylinder of the appropriate length and rod diameter and end and simply put the piston out of the one you have in it. You are right about that pin being pushed open and allowing full hydraulic pressure to the slave cylinder. You are setting a new record by getting the planter ready this fall for next spring. As an old man said one time "Do it while you are thinking about it because you will never think about again, and then you will be screaming 'Why did I not do this before I needed it?'" Hell, that describes about everyone.

Sadness and bird shit welds. Problem is some of the "professionals" are worse welders than some farmers

@@jamieebersole6755 being a professional means you get paid enough to make a living off it. If Ross's channel gets big enough to where he can quit driving school bus he'll be a Professional Internet Sadness, Silliness, And Non-running Tractor man.

@ThatOliverGuyChris the channel wouldn't be complete without the struggle bus, so Ross gotta keep driving the 13 letter shit spreader even if he doesn't need the money

I understand the rephaseing slave cylinder concept. But why??? You are just lifting the planter up and down. Why not all cylinders in parallel???? Are the markers tied into the circut???? Inquiring minds want to know.

The displacement of the master rod end is the same as the smaller slave cylinder base end causing them to go out at the same speed. A hydraulic shop or machines should make that rod for less than 300.00 .thanks Ross enjoy your videos!

Hey Ross, take a look at Surplus Center in Lincoln NE. I don't have my catalog handy, but I think they have rephrasing cylinders. A competent hydraulic repair shop should be able to make you a new rod also. Except for the chrome, they are just mild steel. Not hardened at all. I have a chisel plow that would never raise or lower evenly. I put rephrasing cylinders on it, and it works perfectly. To bad I waited 30 years to do it! 😂

Maybe you could find a scrap 5100 and then you would have an intact cylinder to rebuild

I was just looking at a grain drill that the lift cylinders were rephrasing except i didn't learn that until i watched this video. I was like, how do you get oil in the line going between the cylinders, and they didn't know either

How was the clevis originally attached to the cylinder shaft? Was it a onr piece machined part? Could you repair it with good welding again if you had to?

Sadness abounds with your situation, but you're the man, "Ross the Oliver Man-Riecker", to be exact, to get it fixed with less sadness. I haven't used a planter, but I understand most of what your saying on the phasing. Good luck with the rest of the fix, have a good afternoon!
