FINDING Fish using Underwater Drones

In this episode of BlacktipH, we use an underwater drone in Key West to find more fish on the reefs. We sent the drone down nearly 300ft to a World War 1 submarine, and we found dozens of fish swimming around the wreck. We found amberjacks, snapper, lionfish, and grouper swimming around the submarine wreck. The following day, we headed back to the reefs and started hooking fish. Billy and Josh caught Mutton and Red Snappers. Josh sent the drone again and found hundreds of Red Snapper swimming around the reef.

If I spend too much time on my finder or nav screen I get sea sick. Fishing with young kids does the same thing… constantly re-rigging with my eyes inside the boat instead of catching fish and lookin at the horizon. Took me a long time to figure out why fishing with kids made me sick, but I love it! Burnt toast for breakfast and Gingerale helps quite a bit. Great video, thank you!

Sea sick, I use to go out fishing on a company paid trip every year. We had one guy that got sick every time and he would lay out on the deck and sleep. We would put bait fish wright under his nose and slip a few into his coat pockets. He was always a pretty good sport about it all. The same thing happened every year. So if you catch your buddy sea sick and sleeping give him a little fish! Cool video guys!

I think looking at the monitor for the underwater drone would have done you in with sea sickness Brain getting mixed signals. You viewing a screen that isn’t moving relative to you (since being held) while your whole body moves. Mount it somewhere (if possible) so it rocks with the boat. Might help

Yes it’s possible but challenging. They will either pull you into structure if you are lucky enough to keep them out of the structure then you have to get them past the sharks. The faster you can get them up the better thats why people use heavier gear.

The QYSEA FIFISH V6 underwater ROV is much cheaper at $1700 and almost as good. The one they are using is the Chasing M2 underwater ROV which is $2500 I have both and they are both fantastic. The FIFISH is much faster but the M@ CHaser is much more stable with better video quality and can go deeper.

Sucks to think about but i wonder if his cancer was the cause of the sickness, of all his footage i havent seen him sick. I wonder if his later discovery and diagnosis for cancer is the reasoning behind this. Is that a possibility or was he just prone getting sea sick. Some people just never get sea legs even though they have hundreds of hours spent offshore, just my thinking maybe a symptom of the sickness surfacing. Either way i hope god gives him tue strength to fight it

North Carolina does not allow drones for any type of use in fishing , above or below. Crazy as I wanted to use my drone this year.............In fact the Marine officer told me I could go out in the yak without poles , fly the drone , find fish , then go back in and go two hours home , drop the drone off , get my reels , go back , go out and catch fish , and he could still site me for fishing with a drone.

They said they would contact a senior official to call me and give me the correct answers cause they did not know. He called like a hour later and told me , no way shape or form and then said the above. I was like WTF , that's sort of harsh...He said , that's the stance we all took on it.
