I found the foot print impression out exploring where a colonial era cabin once stood. There was a small structure back here in the 1700s 1800s and it left a small flat spot in the ground. There is no cellar hole ( rock foundation ) like the more established sites. This is how you read the land and figure out what happened way back when. These sites have been lost t history but they can still be found out in the woods if you pay attention. I brought my metal detector along to see what I could find. There was some iron nails left over but the great stuff was the old button I found. Tombac and copper made and hundreds of years old. these relics are from the past and the people who once loved on these old deserted farms.

Used to find those short term sites occasionally when hiking between cellar holes. Some that were surely occupied for less than 5 years as there was nothing more than enough stones for a serviceable chimney. They rarely turn up goodies. Wedge from a feather and wedge splitting kit was my most unique find from them.

Hi Charlie, always great to see you and your explorations. I’m enjoying a Not Thursday on a yes Tuesday. 1973 was a very good year. U.S involvement in the Vietnam war ended in January. I was a freshman in high school. Elton John had Crocodile Rock and Grand Funk Railroad had We’re an American Band. Some of my relics. Lol thanks sunshine for the video. ARROW *🎱. 🇺🇸❤️

An interesting Not Thursday video Charlie, the new small site you found was a great bonus especially for your map and the pair of buttons were wonderful to see. I have wondered before but to be folded up like that makes me think of it being wrenched off by force, perhaps caught in something? I liked the small spade, it reminds me of a trowel for using in removing weeds or planting young plants. It may have taken time but I enjoyed watching the in the woods and seeing the old trees mixed with the younger new trees. The sounds of the birds was lovely to hear as all our birds have moved up to the lakes as it is so dry here, though there has been flooding not far away we have had a little rain that the earth swallowed it as fast as it fell. Take care and stay safe please my friend, good luck and happy hunting. God bless you and NinJen and love and hugs to you both Mary-Ellen LFOD

Hi Charlie, Loggers would often carry a small trowel like that and use them to dig rocks and muck out of the tracks of their logging equipment. Nice adventure!

Nice couple buttons. The first target looked like a piece roof trim that was put on the edge of the roof before the shingles were nailed on.

Charlie, you must have set down your cigar upwind from you as you had camera rolling. Funny to see smoke drift between you and the camera while you are digging and talking. Regards from Texas!

Charlie... at the 11:42 mark you look up all of a sudden as if you sensed or heard something off in the distance and then a fast mover flies past you - not smoke but looks like smoke. I was like "hold up what was that" and rewinded the video and also saw a slower one go by before that... looks like other people saw it too from the comments. What WAS that???

I am very new to this hobby and am having a hard time setting the custom settings so I do not dig up every nail in the woods. Any suggestions? Today I found my first coins an 1987 and a 1945 Wheat back penny also a lot of nails and other stuff...old shovel, pail handle, cooper elbow, etc. Any suggestions on an AT for settings?

That wasn’t smoke. At 11:25 as Charlie is saying “when Dame and I found the footprint last week” you see it coming from the left side of the screen, and across the front of the tree next to him. It would have to be pretty breezy to carry smoke that fast. Besides, smoke goes up. This made a lateral move.
