FINDING GIANT SUNFISH IN NEW POND

NEW CFA STORE creekfishingad... Got a little time to fish a new pond and was pleasantly surprised to catch some HUGE sunfish, several small bass and even a catfish off a piece of bread.

​@@chad78ism It is 100% NOT a warmouth. It is a hybrid between a bluegill and a green sunfish. Unless you have a condition which makes you unable to distinguish sunfish, you best read some books and watch your mouth.

First time I have seen this video. Those were some REALLY nice Bluegills!!! .. .By the way, this video brings back some memories of when I lived in Fort Lauderdale. Back in the day, my buddy worked for the water department and he always had to go to new housing projects to check meter installations. Since most of the housing developments were in old citrus groves, there were always old, DEEP ponds that were for the sprinkler systems and they were always FILLED with huge Bluegill or depending upon the size of the pond, HUGE Bass. Awesome video.

That is definitely a hybrid bluegill pond hatcheries create them by crossing a green sunfish with a bluegill for pond owners they grow to be massive sizes up to around 14 inches and anywhere from 1 to 3 pounds

Awesome video and awesome catch of sunfish and more man I would love to fish that pond and catch some fish I got a lot of special areas I have I have a special fishing spot that I fish at a pond in fredonia Ohio last year I caught a 3 pound largemouth bass and there are some grass carp in there too that are between 15 to 35 pounds at least I plan on going back there in the late April and this time I ain't going to let that grass carp get away from me this time even if I have to reel it in from the dock I will and I probably will do just that and have you ever heard of a warmouth before they are a type of bluegill and sunfish that big sunfish that you caught it probably could be a warmouth

We call em Georgia green giants up here in northern Nevada. I’ve seen em twice the size your catching here. They put up an amazing fight for their size. Awesome fish! Good job man.

​@Durell Dailey nope it's a green sunfish bluegill hybrid, it's got the tall body and profile of a bluegill, and the relative mouth size/colors of a green sunfish (dark brown/green on the top and yellow on the belly/pelvic fins). It's even got the orange outlines on the fins. People usually stock them in ponds because they get bigger, grow faster, bite more and they're easier to catch because of that and the size of their mouths. warmouth have longer bodies and a dark brown/blotched pattern (which sometimes appears as a light sort of mossy green), as well as much larger mouths relative to the size of their heads. but i can see where you're coming from in thinking the fish was one over the other.

Man this video helped me out so much. I threw some green sunfish in my pond 2 years ago and i guess they mated with the bluegill. Now i have these sunfish everywhere in the pond! Didnt know what they were at first because they look exactly like a bluegill/green sunfish mix lol.

I think it's a hybrid bluegill x sunfish. The Farm & Home stores around me sell fish for stocking ponds and stuff and the hybrid bluegills are really popular.

Used to live in this neighborhood, the pond is loaded with some decent sized catfish, but I have at least fished it 15 plus times and never had saw any sun fish

Another name is goggle eye.They are some of the best live trotline bait fish I have ever used. They will stay alive on a hook for days.They are the toughest and most likely to live longer on a hook than any other sunfish.If they're the size of my hand they go on a 9/0 .Here big kitty kitty.

That second sunfish has become new norm size wise at my Uncle's Farm here in Ohio. We had a fry last year where the average of everything caught was nearly a pound. Sadly it's what stunts the growth of Largemouth.

I have a pond in my backyard like this. What happened was the bass died out somehow but the perch survived. Then a couple years later I stocked some bass, the perch continued to have no predators because the bass were tiny.

there was a good stream of water flowing into the pond, and a spillway letting it out, i think its somehow mixed between a green sunfish and bluegill, but i have heard all kinds of theorys
