Finding Hope Along The Journey - Episode 6 - Traveling with SCI & accessibility on our trip

After two years of living in survival mode after our motorcycle accident, we decided it was time to take a trip that had been planned before our lives changed. We made the call and got our cruise set up with Carnival Cruise Lines to sail Baja Mexico on a four day sailing.
We traveled via car to Long Beach, California to go on our first cruise. This video is a quick recap of the accessibility challenges and wins that came with our trip. There is never enough planning that can go into a vacation, but it sure is a bigger challenge while being a caregiver and managing our spinal cord injury regiment while on the road.
We share these details with everyone here so that if you are just starting out, whether as a caregiver or a person living with spinal cord injury, you'll know that there is life to live after injury!
First up is a quick overview of Long Beach accessibility while we navigated the streets to find food. Not the best sidewalks we have encountered!
Then onto a quick review of our stay at ‪@motel6724‬ Long Beach. Let me tell you - they have the best customer service. Easy to contact and certainly want to make sure they do the best for their clients. We had a small hiccup there but they were on it!
And finally, a brief recap of our experience on the Carnival Radiance... what a great time we had there! The ship was amazing and they went above and beyond to ensure we were well taken care of. Our cabin steward, I Made, was nothing short of stellar! I will be posting another video soon that goes more in depth of the accessible features of this particular ship.
Shout out to Hani ‪@TheBeachLife‬ for his great videos for first time cruisers. We had a much easier time finding the port because of his efforts and the great detail he puts into ensuring travelers find their way to the ship!
