Hert, bnr32 owner since 2014 here. ($7500 purchase) make sure to double check your rear window seal. The weakest rust spots on this chassis are where the trunk meets the rear window. Water just keeps in there. Mine had a bunch of rust cancer from the inside of the trunk that just kept spreading eventually making it through the paint until I defeated it! Just keep at it mane! 💯

I imported my BNR32 into Canada almost 18 years ago. You could buy ridiculously cheap R32 GTR’s at that time but I payed a premium compared to others in hopes of getting a clean car in good mechanical condition. Some people even mocked me for paying that premium. Well when most others of that era have long since said goodbye or walked away from their cheap GTR’s, 18 years later I still have it. 😉 In saying that, prices have gotten out of hand now. So by all means pay the price for the car with intended use in mind.

Watch out for front driver sway bar endlink touching the drive shaft boot. The lower you go, the closer it gets to that boot, and it will absolutely shred that boot, and that is the only axle on the car that isn't flanged, so you will have to pull it from the front diff. Not a great time.

Also fitment on a gtr is simple, copy the group A gtrs, y’all literally have a template to fallow so run with it.

@@carbonfiber8071 Agreed but I’m glad Hert likes it. I still go with the old muscle car rake. Low as possible in the front without adversely effecting the handling and big meats in the back to put the power down. Still looks fast to me.

You need to check all the structure on that car now I purchased a car with Dog food cans and Baked Bean cans holding the frame together fixed on with rivets and sealant around the edge to make it look like welds, they then painted a thick black under seal over it. That car was a death trap.

Man that material you cut off is the spot welded section that attaches the rear 1/4 panels to the inner wheel wells you are suppost to carefully hammer roll that seam over with a hard wood profile to hold the shape of the gaurd when carefully tapping the seam edge over this takes 4 to 5 passes would open the seam up then fill with 3m pannel bond that should hold it and seal it what you have done in time will create cracks water leaks a weaker structure before you cut ask a any qualified chassis person that understands the dynamic's of a BNR32 chassis strength structure integrity.

Definitely think you made the right choice buying an imperfect gtr. Sadly it wouldn't surprise me if people made a business out buying clapped out jdm cars, doing a Macco type repair (aka bare minimum work) to profit off of importers

Thats a perfect excuse to do a widebody. As long as your strut towers and sills are good, it's not too bad. All Datsuns are rusty anyway. Might as well pay less for one that's rusty in the right places.
