Good words... well stated. I like the blend of sketches and interviews. My favorite line: @13:07 "Jesus came not to show the way to heaven based upon our merits, but to be the way to heaven based upon his merits."

Such an interesting project and a really engaging way to interact with people. We often have skewed views on things like evangelism, and this approach demonstrates how we can treat people like people rather than questions to be answered or problems to be fixed.

Hey, Tyler, I just watched the video. Very well done! I really appreciated the way that you presented, which I think was very key. Sometimes people who present subject matter like this actually lose a hearing with a broad audience because they are more emotional and seem to appeal to convincing people of something as opposed to explaining or educating people about something in a mild manner. You did that very well!

Great presentation! The art of asking questions is a skill I'm trying to grow in as I seek to understand other viewpoints. It amazes me how asking thoughtful questions can take the conversation from a defensive debate to a "let us explore this together and find what we might agree upon" interaction.

GREAT TALK! I spoke just before Tyler did this talk and I'm glad that I didn't have to follow this! lol. His original title was something like "Jesus is not just a role model" definitely suits the content better. But, as I told Tyler when I heard this live, I'll be sharing this video all the time. I really think churches and other Christian ministries can benefit from using this to train their outreach team. Great job Tyler. You killed it!

As humans, we are so used to this idea that we have to do good in order to be saved. Everywhere in life, this is the underlying, implied message: do good at work, get a pay rise. Be a good partner, and she'll/he'll like you, Be kind to others, and they'll be kind to you, and so on. And this is why the Gospel is so simple but so hard for us to believe. The gospel is literally too good to be true. God already loves you. Before and after you sin. On your best days and your worse days. God is the ultimate, unconditional loving father that has his arms wide open to receive you. And through that humbling perspective, we just can't help but live lives of gratitude, to forgive others, because of what Jesus did for us. Just read the lyrics to Amazing Grace.

It's easy to feel at a loss and not even engage in conversation because we think we must know all the right responses to the toughest questions people ask about faith. Tyler helps us see that we should approach this differently. Ask good questions, then be willing to listen intently. Why do I always try to make this about me, instead of being available and obedient and putting it in God's hands?
@CultureShaka4 жыл бұрын
Rick, I can relate to the urge to not even enter the conversation in the first place. It sure is liberating and even FUN to ask questions. Unexpected adventures and discoveries await each person willing to do this!

"Finding reasons to believe in God" pretty much goes against of what "belief" means. It's like the embarrassing Pascal wager, "I decide to believe in God cause it's safer". Well, if God exists and knows everything about it He just found out you're not a true believer
@cbrooks974 жыл бұрын
You misunderstand what "belief" means. Faith is not believing without evidence. Faith is trusting for the future based on what you know in the present.

Thanks for watching, Vasile. How did you arrive at that conclusion regarding "belief"?
@VicusBass4 жыл бұрын
@@CultureShaka Well, I was educated to be a believer and I struggled for years to simulate it until I decided you cannot force or fake being a believer. I suppose there are folks who became believers in for rational reasons, never met one. Thing is, if you're a rational man in Iraq which are the odds you're become a catholic, let's say? No, it's mostly geopolitics.
