In this episode I am tracking the amazing desert elephants that live in Namibia. These animals are adapted to living in the desert and it's been a long time wish of me to see them in the wild. After seeing footprints and droppings for a while, I know I'm getting closer and closer!

At times, the look on people’s face is priceless! I think, they must be wondering, what is a young lady doing on a motorcycle, alone, in the middle of the desert? Well, what they don’t realize is they’ve just encountered Itchy Boots! One of the most brilliant and well traveled motorcycle riders in history! Ride safe Noraly!

First, I think "the elephant broke the water system" is the best excuse ever for not taking a shower! Your drone footage just keeps getting more and more stunning. I loved the overheads in this video, coupled with the interspersed bike closeups (front wheel and cockpit), and particularly the drone footage and music at the end of the video. Finally, that semi-tent cabin with outdoor bath and patio looks like a place Hemingway could have camped out in and composed a novel. Just do not be shocked if a curious elephant checks out your morning ablutions by peeking over the stone wall.

@@BrassLock Absolutely. Also the way she captures the depth of field - both with the drone and the stick mounted cam. In one of her episodes she mentioned that the camera flattens the terrain - it does not capture the difficulty of the terrain. I can attest to it. She is finding ways to show us what she experiences, not only the images. It requires trail and error, and commitment. I commend her for this.

Great content as always Noraly. Having visited Southern Africa myself a number of times, I'm always impressed how welcoming the locals are. You can be driving in the middle of nowhere and you will always get a friendly wave. I once had a flat tyre and the locals appeared on cue and helped me change it and they were reluctant to accept any money for their trouble. Not something that happens in some more developed places.

@@tetedur377 I love engagements that involves numbers 😍. On average, 0.5% to 1% of all people on internet can ever donate or buy anything.. maximum of 1%. Roughly if it's $1 for each, we could expect a maximum of 4000 to 8000 people to contribute. (Though this sounds exxagarated figure). Out of the 4000 people, only about 200 will actually contribute 90% of the money... As often, 10% of people contribute more than 90% of the money 😄😄, a fact.. then the rest of people throw in one dollar or two and anything close to nothing 😄. If there's about some 500 people willing to support, it would be extremely huge... However, in business we follow benefits so my easy thinking is; it's far easy to get as many more viewers to videos as possible, it could help I guess.

In fact it is a sign of presence if an elephant feels uncomfortable. He shows his power with this show. Noraly often reacts to late or even does not react anyway when meeting wild animals. She does f.e. not slow down when antilops run in stress, which can cause their death in environment like this (remember the Oryx at the fences). This time she was too close to the elephants! One of the things I dont like in a really phantastic bikeblog by a outstanding woman!

@@thebikemike I remember her always being quite careful around wild animals, particularly those that run along fences and roads.... including in this video. And I'm pretty sure she has more experience doing that than most people. (Edit) Not to mention that, "Though their hide looks tough, elephants have sensitive skin that can get sunburned. To counteract the damaging rays of the sun, elephants throw sand on themselves. ... When coming out of a bath in a river, elephants will often throw mud on themselves as a layer of protection as well." So I won't mention it......

@@thebikemike Nooooo. Imo, Ellie was actually the opposite as Ellie appeared to me to be VERY relaxed. More than likely very used to the vehicles with people coming to look. The dust bath is a VERY normal and usual activity of elephants. If Ellie was disturbed, ears would go back, they would either false charge the vehicle or simply meander away. Since Ellie simply carried on, doing usual ellie things, then again, imo, that elephant was totally calm. They were not "too close" to Ellie nor has Noraly herself done one thing "wrong" re wildlife that I have seen. To each their own perspective; this is simply mine. 🙂

I just recently learned about your channel from @30AndAWakeup and have been mesmerized by your adventures. Your videos brought back so many fond memories of my time in KY and TZ. Until I can make it to Namibia, thank you for taking me along for the ride!

Back here in South Africa we have once again been in travel-inhibiting lock-down. Your videos have provided a magnificent virtual escape from my cabin-fever. Thank you for sharing our wonderful continent with us. The most powerful and liberating human trait in the world is curiosity. Yours is abundant.

The elusive elephants sighted as well as a Namib dessert nomad following the roadway. Some incredible vistas for us to drink in. I never imagined scenery as enthralling in a dessert region. Thank you.

Fantastic, as always,....Noraly, your hair has grown in length, and I'll tell you, it now has the perfect length, really! Namibia is a great country for exploring the (geological) wonders of this planet...so diverse....

You did it! Amazing images of two elephants enjoying the water and the cool environment of an oasis in what seems to be an endless desert. But suddenly, in the middle of nowhere, again we see a human settlement and a very nice lodge with terrace & outside bathroom. Brilliant!

I can't believe such pictures can come from the lenses of simple GoPro cameras, especially when I see what my own cheapo clone action cam produces. Beautiful! The first episode in months I didn't start watching within a minute after its release (I have a good excuse: Circuit Jules Tachenet in Mettet, Belgium. Got goosebumped by motorcycle awesomeness. ^^)

Noraly, your videos are beautiful. Not only do they show the beauty of God's earth, but the beauty of the people of each country. And the drone footage just takes my breath away with the music. It is touching. It shows how small people are and how vast our earth, universe really are. You are a very special person. God bless you and your rides!

That's what I thought until I visited Namibia. That stark desert is unimaginably beautiful, and constantly changing. Unfortunately no photographs or videos will ever do it justice.

It makes me hugely admire the peoples who have adapted to these places - I would feel so vulnerable as I'd have no clue how to set about surviving! There are of course many deserts in the Northern hemisphere too.
