First, I think "the elephant broke the water system" is the best excuse ever for not taking a shower! Your drone footage just keeps getting more and more stunning. I loved the overheads in this video, coupled with the interspersed bike closeups (front wheel and cockpit), and particularly the drone footage and music at the end of the video. Finally, that semi-tent cabin with outdoor bath and patio looks like a place Hemingway could have camped out in and composed a novel. Just do not be shocked if a curious elephant checks out your morning ablutions by peeking over the stone wall.

@@BrassLock Absolutely. Also the way she captures the depth of field - both with the drone and the stick mounted cam. In one of her episodes she mentioned that the camera flattens the terrain - it does not capture the difficulty of the terrain. I can attest to it. She is finding ways to show us what she experiences, not only the images. It requires trail and error, and commitment. I commend her for this.

In fact it is a sign of presence if an elephant feels uncomfortable. He shows his power with this show. Noraly often reacts to late or even does not react anyway when meeting wild animals. She does f.e. not slow down when antilops run in stress, which can cause their death in environment like this (remember the Oryx at the fences). This time she was too close to the elephants! One of the things I dont like in a really phantastic bikeblog by a outstanding woman!
@charlesharris27493 жыл бұрын
@@thebikemike I remember her always being quite careful around wild animals, particularly those that run along fences and roads.... including in this video. And I'm pretty sure she has more experience doing that than most people. (Edit) Not to mention that, "Though their hide looks tough, elephants have sensitive skin that can get sunburned. To counteract the damaging rays of the sun, elephants throw sand on themselves. ... When coming out of a bath in a river, elephants will often throw mud on themselves as a layer of protection as well." So I won't mention it......
@DLionheart3 жыл бұрын
@@thebikemike Nooooo. Imo, Ellie was actually the opposite as Ellie appeared to me to be VERY relaxed. More than likely very used to the vehicles with people coming to look. The dust bath is a VERY normal and usual activity of elephants. If Ellie was disturbed, ears would go back, they would either false charge the vehicle or simply meander away. Since Ellie simply carried on, doing usual ellie things, then again, imo, that elephant was totally calm. They were not "too close" to Ellie nor has Noraly herself done one thing "wrong" re wildlife that I have seen. To each their own perspective; this is simply mine. 🙂
