Captain of Industry is a construction and management simulation game where you and your loyal crew escaped to an abandoned island to start a new colony after the world has spiralled into chaos. In order to survive, you will need to mine raw materials, harvest food, build factories, manufacture products, construct vehicles, research new technologies, and explore your surroundings. If you are successful, you can even start a space program, build rockets, and assemble your own space station! With all that power and technology, you might be even able to end the world chaos. love the referance to the ground water being a fellow aussie it is something we know happens dry and wet years and the artisian basin that fills and gets rather brackish at times. just water is the life blood of our country and so many don't realise how important the cycles are.

You can drag the empty / fill bar to max and the trucks won't be taking / delivering tiny amounts of items. That has been fixed for a while now! Update 1 I believe...

I know in the early days it worked well IF you turned off delivery of partial loads.. I tend to NOT change that setting unless i have to, I know last series I never turned it off for the whole series

I have a great relationship with the devs, I was talking to one of them right before recording this video because i found a rare bug with loading maps, and through some trial error and testing helped him locate a probable cause of the bug. I have also seen HOW they would like to fix this sort of exploit in the future, which would render what I did in this video pointless.

I am surprised that you are using so many sorters. I used your sorter blueprint, modified it a tiny little bit and it is the only sorter that's servicing my entire map. It doesn't get stuck because excess rock and dirt is getting dumped in the sea, and if all storage for the excess useful materials is full they got designated dumping spots near the location they are mined so I can quickly mine them back in pure form when needed. Especially in the begining when you can't afford to waste neither electric power nor man power

Its really just a manpower waste. The sorter doesn't use power if it isn't sorting. If you dump the sorted ores just to mine them out later you are wasting diesel and maintenance for the trucks. Also putting more strain on the general logistics system.

If i had more room, and later in the game with Adv Diesel running, then id consider dumping pure ore to dig later. But on this map where i am currently its not a option

@@deredware9442 That's true. In the end it all comes down to what's your bottleneck at the moment. Usually mine is manpower. Resources are nearly limitless so it's not a concern. I was never able to use up all iron on any map as of yet.

@@JDPlays Just so you know JD, I fully retract my words and apologise. Later in the game I had to build a separate sorter for pretty much every diggable resource as the throughput became way too slow to sort more than one resource at a time +dirt and rock. We need bigger and faster sorters.

There appears to be a limit to the number of water facilities you can build. I created a custom map with plenty of ground water, and after I built my 12th ground water extractor, any more just sit unfinished. If I destroy one of the those original 12 plants, then one of the ones just waiting to be built gets finished. When I rebuild the one I destroyed, it just sits in an unfinished state.

i could be the problem they fixed in 0.6.2 (the ore sorter has to high priority overall i feel the before in 0.6 and 0.6.1. i started with 0.6.2 a new game and it runs perfect bug problem free

Worth reporting the bug, maybe there is some limit that was placed a long time ago before custom maps were a thing

@@JDPlays I tried to isolate the issue by starting over, researching until I got groundwater extraction, then building 24 of them. All 24 of them built. I don't know what happened. This was in 0.6.2a. I built them all close to each other, where as before they were all over the place. If I figure out a way to repeat the issue, I will report it.

Yes, but only if you exploit a careful set of bugs... which ive done before. Otherwise it will slow down and stop eventually.

JD, you know you can put 3 pumps on a gw reserve without problems? I have it set to dry, and sometimes I can even run 4 for a while.

I am thinking about making advance ore sorting plant, sorry ahead of time to people playing on small space maps, even you JD, as this is a big one with less ore sorting and loose storage unless can work it out on your map JD I will be putting it up on coi hub blueprints when I done setting it up after work that is.

I made one already for digging previously dumped areas, and I know someone modified it to use it as a general sorter and also had trucks picking up from it and redumping into ramps of pure ore, these would be a option for me IF i had more room on the map to do anything

So how exactly is unity-building a pump cheating, but all those rain catchers are not? For that matter, how exactly is building anything with unity not cheating? I very strongly disagree with this decision by the devs. Unity is for "cheating" in COI, and it aint free, you work for it. This thing with pumps makes zero sense to me. If devs start limiting unity usage, it might just kill the game imho. 😢 And BTW, this feels like a bug if you dont read changelog, exactly because it comes out of nowhere and clashes with established logic of the game. Ugh, I cant stop ranting here!

I understand what the devs are getting at, as oil AND ground water are both limits that a map designer can use to make a map more of a challenge/interesting. I know map designers can use trees and even make the ground 'ribbed' so it has to be cleared first, but I actually hate the ribbed ground effect way worse then just not being able to unity build there. Same goes for the trees, last thing you want to do is make a push for more oil or water and then find out that the grounds not level OR that there is a forest in the way!

Rather than using beacon to get refugee go to other town and get them which cost you 2.5 unit every 10 months.

Are you suggesting I should be buying Slaves from another town for 2.5 unity? I would actually, except new refuges are meant to come with more goodies in this patch, so id like to try the beacon a few more times.

This update they really wanted to get the map editor done, which i think is a massive improvement to the game, next update they have already confirmed will have roads so we will see what else is added

Love the "exploit" ... always wondered if unity cost should be proportial to the distiance from your starting location, would definietly make you think twice if that catcher on the other side of the map cost 10 unity vs 2

I've seen the devs discussing all the different options for building with the 'power of unity and belief' and I'm sure it will change in the future. But for right now this is what we have.

38:11 Have to be extra careful with that linking method for the diggy boys now, if they have a mixed load that they can dump without using the ore sorter they will drive to the far dump zone and not the ore sorter. Since you did dirt only its safe, they will try to dump the pure load in storage first and then if they cant go to the far dump zone just like before.

Just a tip you wanna keep your total mechanical power above the red line, add weight to make that red line go up more generators to make the red line go down and keep the red line below that end of the bar that shows mechanical power........ PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG......

Using unity to build in un-accessable locations? Seems like an exploit. I would rather see you beat this map without cheating....

That doesn't seem any more cheaty to me than doing anything else with unity. After all, those locations seem like they'd be easily accessible by foot or mountaineering. All it takes is some motivation and belief, which I suppose we can describe as "unity".

CHEATING? I'm offended (not really) I know the actual maths behind how much water I'm getting with 5 rain catchers, and its about 1/60 So i wouldnt call it cheating, id call it a great waste of time and Unity so far.
