I fully confirm Michael Raddie‘s comment. A fantastic video. Unfortunately, we are not travelling yet, but are preparing ourselfs. This video closes the gaps where I was struggling the most; planing and navigation and as well dealing with foreign languages. Thank you so much for your advice for the explained Apps!!

This was so informative, , as a family we do a lot of outback touring of Australia, we use Hema both digital and paper maps. Also Wiki Camps for campsites etc.. Also use Sygic for on road navigation as it has an awesome HUD mode.. During this period of mass lockdown throughout the world that no doubt is affecting Leigh and Step was wondering if Steph could do a vid on editing tips and tricks. Once again though Leigh and Steph have made a cracking video,,😀😁

Excellent video mate. Super informative with excellent hands-on experience on what does and what hasn't worked for you guys! I often use offline google maps and various free topo map apps for my trips in Australia, though I'm sure this is not an option in many of the countries and remote locations you have visited on your travels. Keep up the great work, I'm very keen to get back out in the bush once the restrictions are somewhat relaxed... Cheers from lockdown 😃

That was by far the most helpful video for a would be traveler I have ever seen, and Nicely edited. One of the biggest hurdles for people is fear of finance, mechanical and communication to mention but a few your videos go a long,long way to alleviating those fears for people who lets face it REALLY want to do what your doing.

@cobblesices99864 жыл бұрын
Leigh Dearle look forward to that, maybe you could explain how the whole patreon works, that would be fascinating for everyone. As you know some people can rent out their houses or sell their businesses to finance such a trip or maybe they take regular breaks to fly back home and work to replenish finances what story’s have you heard from your fellow travellers. Maybe one idea that could be helpful is if you could give a rough idea of what you have spent yearly? maybe chart out the monthly fluctuations that occur during that year? We have followed you from the start and seen the many breakdowns, accidents, purchases and the many great meals you have both had so would be nice to see how we could all budget for the same level more or indeed less. I guarantee you one thing, given the current circumstances a lot of people are re-evaluating their lives and loss of freedom at this moment maybe you should seriously consider a book! DVD even.

fantastic video and good advice. i am using mapsme (previously mapswithme) and osmand since their beginning. just wanted to add one thing: you forgot to mention that both of them rely on openstreetmap, where basically every traveller can contribute tracks, waypoints and the like. Once you upload your tracks to openstreetmap they will appear in osm based apps like mapsme, osmand in a couple of weeks. so you can both rely on other travellers experiences and contribute to the ones that follow your steps. take care and stay safe!

As you mentioned 'Defender' ... You may have a look to Navigator by mapfactor (I'm not related to them ;). In there you can set different car profiles which include a speed definition... we do have eg one profiler for the Series III and one for the Defender. Series profile is set to no highway, the Defender is set to max speed on highway to 90km/h ... often this does result in a different routing than it would be calculated as 130 on highway for standard car... : navigatorfree.mapfactor.com/en/ navigatorfree.mapfactor.com/en/support#know-area
