With out a doubt the most painful part of many of the Willys Overland rebuilds I have done involves the frame. Many hours spent with a side wheel grinder tenderly removing gomby gobs of welded reinforcement glued on to support snowplows and Saganaw steering boxes.. Using a cut-off wheel like a surgeon is an art developed over time and sadly error. I'll be following your adventure cheering you on. I bought my first Jeep in 1975. It was a CJ3-B sand dragster with a Holman and Moody Ford 289. I traded it for a 1958 Willys Station Wagon (also with Ford 289). Many Jeeps later I still have that '58. It's much happier with the original L6-226 flathead 6 I reinstalled. I'm wandering now. I just want to share some of my mistakes and hopefully save you some grief in your noble effort. Paul at Willys America and Carl at Walck's 4 Wheel Drive have shared in my many adventures. Reprinted Service Manuals and Parts Catalogs can save your bacon too.
