I can’t wait to see this frame repair all the way through. There’s so many common looking problems on this frame. It seems like getting the correct angle cut on the replacement rail would be tricky

A little bit of planning and patience goes a long way to getting this frame in shape. Careful layout and cutting results in perfect fits.

Wish I would have seen this a couple years ago. I did my best on very similar damage to my frame horns/ frame; didn’t come out perfect cuz my bumper looks crooked from the front…. I tried…😖. Thanks again for another great video Brian.

It is very easy to get a crooked bumper/front end on frames. That is why I took the time to show how I do it and how I jig it up so it comes out correct.

Outstanding video and work Brian, all I can say is yikes and sorry on the driver’s side carnage there but I’m glad it’s in your capable hands. I’m pretty certain it was used for plowing decades before I bought it, but yeah, that looked pretty bad. Thanks for having the attention to detail and care for our safety to make sure it’s done right, knew you were the right guy for the job who could make it safe and usable if the possibility still existed. Nice touch on the correct bumper bolts. It’s all looking much better than I thought it ever could, it’s come a long way since the day I rescued it from the last owner’s woods. Were you able to get the serial plate off the old horn in one piece to attach to the new rail? I remember it looking mostly solid and a little bent, but as this video confirms, looks can be deceiving on this frame and I have a data plate guy if we need a repro. Thanks again.
@metalshaperJeep2 жыл бұрын
I will try to carefully remove the plate and install it on the new frame rails. Things are coming along nicely and I am making time to finish it up soon.

Rewatched this one Brian as I think about my 2a frame repair. Question: If you had a solid/straight frame forward of the transmission crossmember but the rear end was shot; would you consider grafting in a solid rear frame section from another chassis? I have this to consider. Staggered frame joints/welds are possible between the transmission crossmember and the forward rear spring hangers. Diagonal cuts as well and maybe reinforced on the inside. Trying to save my original frame with frame tag. Your thoughts appreciated.

Great video, Are you concerned about not putting in fish plates? Where do you get your frame horns? I need one for my 48 2A.

Did the three mounts for the grill line up? I’m doing this job right now and I had to move my grill mounts to get them to line up with the center mount on the crossmember.
