Borderlands is a little on the edge of the ARPG genre, but that's close enough for me. It helps that I'm dumb and am stretching the truth. But there's a lot of fun to be had playing the Borderlands series, and through it's dynamic and very different gameplay, could it be possible that Borderlands 1 is the Best ARPG Ever Made? There's literally zero percent chance, but hey I wou.
Thanks for watching! Time keeps on moving forward, but Seer will always be here with another review you didn't ask for. I hope you enjoyed, and if you did, I would greatly appreciate it if you Liked, Shared, Commented and Subscribed. Also, go ahead and hit the bell with your ultimate ability, really give it something to think about.
As always, I need and want to extend a huge thank you to my Patrons! You are all the best! / seergames
And if you wanna come riff with other like-minded viewers, I have a discord! / discord

I’m surprised there aren’t more games like borderlands, the game really feels like Diablo but as an fps and no other “looter shooter” has that same feeling. Most other looter shooters take a more mmo approach to the game where as borderlands is more so a single player game that happens to have multiplayer. Makes me wish for more games like it.

@@bilskibrandon The one negative thing I'll say about B3 is that it DID do some interesting things I LIKE and the reason I willingly replay the game! And that's gameplay, Skill Trees and being able to CHANGE my Action Skill to further expand how a character plays! Those I liked along with some of the guns functioning changing! I liked Maliwan and Dahl because of the ability to change the Guns functions with the press of a Button! But I REALLY started to noticed their OBSESSION with trying to get you more involved in the story then you WISH! I can take hearing Incoming transmissions as I'm moving forward, but to FORCE ME into a "interactive cutscene" with no ability to skip got VERY annoying! It was minor and not that bad in B2, but GOD DAMN did it get worse in B3! Story was flip flop to me and I'll say I liked the DLC stories LARGELY because it wasn't about OTHER PEOPLE WHILE I GOT THE SIDE KICK ROLE which is what I hated the most in B3 main story (Love to tell the writers those HACKS that Lilith's and Maya's story ENDED back in B1 & B2 and this is the B3 CASTS story! But Ava kept fucking intruding when I DIDN'T WANT HER THERE! I mean even the twins for their flaws treated Ava like a NOTHING character and focused EXCLUSIVELY on you so that's a plus I'll give them of their flaws. Seriously would be nice if they game allowed me to STRAIGHT UP SKIP the interactive Cutscene crap and GET ON WITH IT in the story as let's be real, when one of these comes up I'm usually playing Fire Emblem Fates on my 3DS or Switch so I'm playing that for abit till the scene ENDS which is WHY I LOATHE the "walk with me" ones which exist simply cause the writer wants to ASSURE my ass is paying attention to their mess of a Story! And I'm not a FAN of this! Hell even when I LIKE THE LINES, I think it would have been better to make that a CUTSCENE PERIOD so then I can SKIP if I wish or not! This is largely because if I SAW the cutscene before, I'm not going to be INCLINE to be forced to see it again! So a IMMERSIVE option that SEEMED nice in the first run, now becomes HATED for interrupting the FLOW of gameplay! At least it got me to pay out my ass for Multiplayer, cause the NOOBS will "walk and interact" while I just wait at the exit playing my 3DS/Switch or working on my Laptop till THEY move on! Let them be my SLAVE and interact with the cutscenes that should have been SKIPABLE I do feel they got COCKY with the story they made and thought they were fucking SHAKESPEARE or something! It's why I find myself having the LESS urge to repeat B3 compared to the other games in the series

The divide between something like Witcher 3 and Grim Dawn has always been super fascinating, but the differences between the two ARPGs ive picked up are: • in one you have moveset-based combat, in the other you basically fight with skills • in one you upgrade gear to get stronger, in the other you collect new gear • one is often more narrarive focused and the other is...not really • in one you hold on to and upgrade your stuff, in the other you find new stuff to replace the old Basically the Zeldas of the world are more action-adventure, and the Diablos are more RPG in the traditional sense

This game is my favorite borderlands. I know it has flaws, but what works really clicks for me. I like that it's video gamey and most story is done through text so if I start a new playthrough I can make a good amount of progress in like 2 hours unlike some of the sequels. Also I like the tone more too. I'm also a huge fan of the loot. I look at whites and greens in this game and legendary gear feels so unique and are so far in between but in a good way. Oh oops I forgot to mention I played this when it dropped when I was ten so I'm borderlands 1's nostalgia bitch

Around 2:40 The first major PC Looter-Shooter was in fact Hellgate:London, from 2007. At the time it was the closest we would get to a Diablo 3, as it was made by people who had left Blizzard. A pity it got killed by a monetisation that wouldn't be out of place today, but was a tad early when it got launched. It was made PC only, when Borderlands was found across multiple platforms, and many other mismanagements from the Devs. As for Strife, yeah that was really nice. Uprising 2: Lead and Destroy had base building elements like an RTS, but could be played either 1st or 3rd person, as you control a hovertank that could be have stats upgrades and different weapons equipped to it between missions. As for the bases you've built, they'd produce units like tanks, infantry or airships, that you could summon during battle to help you.

Yeah, Borderlands 2 improves almost everything from Borderlands 1. I think elemental mechanics is the only thing BL2 does worse
@SerechII
@SerechII Жыл бұрын
@@bonchachan6061 what would you say bl1 did better about it? I've heard slag criticized a lot because it's a must late game but other than that I never really cared too much about elements, maybe cause of the classes I played and maybe that's an argument in and of itself
@bonchachan6061
@bonchachan6061 Жыл бұрын
@@SerechII in BL1 the elemental mechanics were more complex and interesting. Elemental guns would deal normal non-elemental damage with additional elemental effects that would apply damage-over-time, splash, vulnerability for corrosion, stun for shock, explosive dealt big damage on crits. Non-elemental guns simply dealt much bigger damage from bullets and were better for killing enemies fast or shooting crits. Those were things you could base gameplay around. In BL2 they simplified it making elemental guns deal only elemental damage on all their bullets. As the result you would always use fire weapons against flesh enemies, corrosive weapons against armoured enemies, shock weapons against... there are no enemies with shields big enough to care about using shock in BL2, you don't use shock in BL2, and you never have a reason to use non-elemental weapons, they're trash compared to fire or corrosion, explosion is essentialy the same thing as non-elemental in BL2 but it comes on splash weapons. The exception are Jakobs and Torgue guns which are only non-elemental but they're good despite being non-elemental because their stats are incredibly good. And then comes slag, the worst addition in BL2. The element that makes slagged enemies take 3 times more damage which is so huge that you will always carry slag gun that you will tap enemies with for no damage just to apply the effect before switching to an actual gun, such a ridiculous mechanic. Slag itself deals even less damage that non-elemental guns so you only care about chance to apply slag which makes the majority of slag guns trash compared to slag maliwan snipers, pistols and some unique guns that have the best chance to apply slag. And also slag does not scale with levels at all, you might find a lvl 10 maliwan slag sniper and use it on lvl 80 just as fine as a lvl 80 sniper. That kind of sums it up
@SerechII
@SerechII Жыл бұрын
@@bonchachan6061 yeah, I totally played the bl2 part just like you described, my fire weapon, my corrosive weapon and a unique smg for slag, I didn't quite think it was terrible but I didn't know any better either, I guess that's why I always ended up playing Zer0 where you kinda skip that part and either look for really cool melee weapons and shields or snipe everything in a map and feel really cool about it, both styles have extremely satisfying gameplay loops that kinda bypass that weakness of the game

borderlands is 100% a loot based ARPG a kin to diablo, and the further you get into the series the more closer it gets to depth of a traditional ARPG (BL3, Wonderlands with the most variety). I personally never understood why people got so upset about its inclusion in the genre, just like I how would include HellGate:London into the category to and that was the Diablo devs (David Brevik) game after D2 (which unfortunately failed). For me, regardless of the perspective, if a game focuses on RNG based loot drops/acquisition (not static drops like souls games), build variety, skill trees with active/passive skills, leveling and leveled enemies and is largely a solo/co-op experience, then it is in the camp of Diablo as far as I'm concerned. I would also include games like Nioh 1-2 (not "souls-like" games), GodFall, Outriders, FF:Strangers of Paradise, because all of those games have a focus on RNG loot drops, stats, farming, and build variety, to tackle "endgame" content...etc. Games I would not personally include would be games like Division 1-2, Destiny 1-2, and other similar games because they are closer to MMO-lite experiences with a more focus on social interaction and multiplayer raid style content over traditional single player/co-op loot'em shoot'em style, where your progression is your own and not dictated by grouping up with others to get the best gear. This is just my opinion of course. Also I love this series, as the APRG genre is my favorite out of all of them.

Destiny's MMO elements are rather light. I don't feel like that makes it any less of an ARPG, just one which is a hybrid. The Division, however, I do feel tips the balance closer to shooter than ARPG. At least the second one, which was for the better there.

When you break down each and every weapon by the number of possible prefixes and combinations of parts (stock, body, grip, scope, etc.), yes, there really is around 17.5M different weapon variations. And I don’t blame you for not knowing what a unique is. You see, you can tell one apart from the average blue rarity weapon/item by looking at its information card. If it has red “flavor” text, that means its a unique, and while it’s often far from obvious what it is, the red “flavor” text hints at a special effect or feature the weapon/item has. I hope my explanation helps. *😊*

Hey there, loved the video, but just wanted to make an argument that looking at the game from just the vanilla stand point might not be the best idea, considering for how long it's been out and many DLCs that have been released since, that add a lot of replayability and farming spots/things to do, like actually fun bosses and shiet. Was just weird for me to watch your argument about the farming being tied to basically checking couple of red chests and a vending machine, while all I remember Borderlands farming for were glitching General Knoxx's Armory runs and da Crab boss, ahh good memories.

I bet you could even write a script for super Mario in an ARPG list and it would still be a funny video to watch. I don't know why, but somehow I seer you make anything work....

Maybe you could include the term "isometric" or "top-down view" into your classification of the specific kind of ARPG that you are reviewing. "Isometric view, Action Role Playing Games with a significant focus on character building/customization and loot grinding." or something like that.

According to google: " Bees, like all insects, have six sections to their legs: the coxa, trochanter, femur, tibia, metatarsus and tarsus. Each is connected by a joint and the one most like a knee is between the femur and tibia. " What is so good about them I have no idea...
