I fully agree! The wasp/bumblebee one is probably my favourite standard Dalek design yet. Stumbled across it a few weeks ago and not been able to stop thinking about it haha!

Yes, I’d love them to be the new design. The blue ones for the regular Daleks, red ones for the high rankers and the black and gold for the supreme daleks.

It's absolute amazing to see my model made it and seeing the response you two had for it. I do appreciate that you saw em as a contender around the end tharries. Also with the mid section turning like how RTD did it, you two were correct about the idea of it moving. I might end up touching em up again and give em more space between the arm and gun. Was not expecting to see one of my models here in the video (18:30). A very pleasant surprise indeed. 😅😁 The story behind that was that it was a commission for a friend of mine, @wsdigitalartwork, about a year ago, based on his design and he wanted it to look like a combination of various Daleks, with a heavy reference to the 'Death' Daleks with the colour scheme, notably features that could enhance the abilities and functions, like the weapons cache at the back and the neck section having a specific purpose (that's why it's shaped a little differently). The gun was an interesting one to do, I seem to remember there being a few variations for the design of that when we were discussing how he wanted it to look. At one point, the gun was meant to be completely black like the 'Death' Daleks had but was changed to silver at the last minute as the details didn't show up like he wanted them to. He did have a few other ranks and colour schemes that he designed as well which had some interesting variations, but we didn't take those further than his design stage in the end. I did do my own Dalek designs a few months ago (not mentioned in the video), and I went with a more of a mix of 80s Daleks and Time War Daleks but with Renegade and movie Dalek colour schemes for various different ranks. I made them to look weathered and scratched, as if they had been through battles and conflicts. (I reposted the comment as I think I accidentally deleted it while I was trying to edit it, haha. 😅)

The paradigm are the best redesign. Vastly different from the normal shape and awesome. At first I didn’t like them but over the years they grew on me.

This was a suprise! I wasn't sure how the designs were going to be used in a video when you asked for them, so my design here wasn't intended to be a "next" Dalek design. This design was meant to be an early Time War design, in between the renegades and the time war daleks. Thank you for the critique of it, though! The neck definitely looks odd in the way it is in these renders, as it was meant to emulate the 2-stage look of the Recon scout daleks, but in a class style. The neck rods and inner mesh do go all the way down, but the last ring has a second layer of mesh around it which covers the bottom of the rods.

Terry Nation had a spider-like concept for the Daleks but it was too difficult to bring to fruition given the restricted budget in '63/64

@@Neil070 They almost went with the spider like design if the 1996 pilot/TV movie didn't flop. As much as I liked McGann I'm glad they didn't move forward with an Americanized version of Doctor Who on FOX.

The audio balance is terrible (why is Jay so loud!?) and that bar across the middle is a crazy choice for a video reviewing pictures in the background that we then can’t see. Did you accidentally release an early draft by mistake? Gave up after five minutes.

30:08 Given that Jay is usually such a stickler for detail, I might point out that calling them "Paradigm Daleks" is grammatically wrong. "Paradigm" isn't an adjective, but a noun, meaning "pattern" or "model" - so, what with them being a new pattern/model of Dalek, the term "NEW Paradigm Daleks" makes sense... but the "New" must be included for it to work. After all, _every_ kind of Dalek is based on a certain model/paradigm, but what distinguishes these is the _newness_ of that paradigm.

Observe, Doctor, a new Dalek paradigm,"_ and it's evident even from that that the Daleks are referring to a NEW model/paradigm for themselves (they're certainly not calling themselves "Paradigm Daleks", that's for sure). Whether it's a nickname or not, "Paradigm Daleks" still makes zero grammatical sense, and it needs the "New" for it to work. It's only one extra syllable, after all. Sidebar: The show has always had an educational value, and one of the great things it's given me - and many others - is a love of language, teaching me countless new words... and the joy of looking them up! It's for these reasons that I wince whenever I hear otherwise articulate, intelligent Doctor Who commentators use the term "Paradigm Daleks", which only serves to reinforce the use of wonky English. That's such a shame, especially since the writers could have dumbed things down, but instead chose to introduce their viewers to a wider, richer vocabulary.

@@tomhossain2099 No. They were a NEW paradigm (model) for the Daleks, as is clear from how they were introduced and referred to in the episode. The adjective is "new", and "paradigm" - as it _always_ was - is the accompanying noun. "Paradigm Daleks" makes zero sense and is plain bad English.
