Harry Butts might in fact be a reference to Ace Attorney, as character "Larry Butz", Phoenix's best friend, is sometimes mispronounced in the game as Hairy Butts by co-workers and other people in there. And Larry gets pretty mad whenever people call him that. Also, the Toppat Clan fights for evil, while in Ace Attorney, you fight for good. Which might be why the bio says "to get back at everyone that made fun of his name." But who knows it could just be a coincidence. Timestamp: 32:45 .

So I found a cool little detail in ITA. So in the “Pure Blooded Thief” path after you choose “leap” Reggie goes on the loudspeaker and says “Sorry everyone we had to deploy some basic maneuvers, a flock of ducks flew by.” Then in the “Government Supported Private Investigator” path if you fail the QTE in the room with the option “Spook” Charles says “Oh man that duck flew right into the propeller, oh what a mess!” Now that might be a coincidence but I’m not sure.

I have an idea about why the Toppats have Dave Panpa: In the bios from Completing the Mission, Gene Fredrickson (Toppat) has a bio stating "He used to be a mayor but fled when plans to smuggle a large diamond out of a museum were uncovered". He was the mayor in the opening cutscene of Stealing the Diamond, which took place in a museum that had a large diamond and where Dave Panpa was also a security guard. Maybe Dave had something to do with the uncovering of those diamond smuggling plans and holding him is a form of revenge? Whatever the reason for capture may be, Dave was probably just trying to do his best after his previous job. Poor guy, he deserves a hug.

Generally in mass effect the middle left option is typically used for an extra inquiry that you can make that doesn't advance the conversation. If there's less than three inquiries to make and no special renegade/paragon choices, the left side of the wheel will be used. If there's too many to fit in, it'll usually give you an "Investigate" submenu that switches all of the wheel options to extra inquiries.

Loving the series thus far! Gonna list below some references/clarifications you may have missed: -The horse neigh at the start of the Right Hand Man fight could be a reference to West of Loathing, which is a comedic stick figure game in the western genre. The combat in that game even consists of two stick figures standing apart and starting at each other while engaging in turn-based combat, much like how Henry and Right Hand Man do in this fight. The whip crack followed by a horse neigh is surely a sound effect that occurs in West of Loathing, although I admit I was unable to find such a sound effect in my brief search. -The hockey mask and chainsaw used during the fight with Right Hand Man is also likely a reference to Vincent in Final Fantasy 7, who can transform into a monster with a similar mask and chainsaw as one of his limit breaks. Considering this occurs during the version of the Right Hand Man fight that is a Final Fantasy reference, this is even more likely to be a Vincent reference. -This one's a bit of a stretch on my part, but the idea of Henry driving a tank out of an airship and this totally working, and the tank itself still functioning on landing, could be a reference to the A-Team movie that came out in 2010, as there's a rather famous scene in that movie where they "fly" a tank out of an aircraft by using the recoil of the tank's gun to control its fall, and they drive off in it after they land. Admittedly this could be just a coincidence, but I thought I'd throw it out there. -This one is a bit meta, but in the Key Quest line in this game, you use a regular key to rescue Dave from his cell, but the metal door you use it on has no keyhole visible when looking at it from the regular view. Yet the keyhole suddenly appears without explanation when you're releasing Dave and zoomed in on the door. In Completing the Mission, there's the cell that Henry gets locked in which also doesn't have a keyhole, yet if you use a lockpick on it repeatedly, the game manifests a keyhole for you to use. I don't know if the latter is a reference to this game's keyhole, but they're similar enough situations that I figured I'd mention it. -The Bob Ross stick figure being a member of the military may be a reference to the fact that Bob Ross served in the military. That's all I caught and/or thought of! Great video, can't wait for the next installment! :D

12:03 Not sure if this counts as a reference, it could've been a coincidence, but we see that Henry has exactly 495 health in both versions of the fight. 495 happens to be the exact number of years Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project spent trapped in a basement.

9:50 I think that's actually another reference to Donkey Kong 64 because in that game, DK can turn into Rambi the Rhino who is able to break through structures such as walls. Considering we had a DK64 reference not that long ago from this one, it' s quite possible that is what it is referencing. Especially since the original fail text said that "Rhinos are difficult to draw" meaning Rhinos in general and not the robot thing from Spiderman.
@deemcgann16953 жыл бұрын
"Just one more turn" is a reference as well. When you lose a game of Civ V you get the option "wait... Just one more turn" which gives you a final turn i believe.

There's another layer to the final fantasy and earthbound fights. The fact that both fights are won by using items is a jab at how items and tools were incredibly powerful and/or broken in earthbound and final fantasy 6 respectively. Henry even uses the famous multi-bottle rocket in the earthbound fight, which is an item known for completely demolishing even the most difficult bosses. Pretty clever if you ask me. This is, of course, also done in the undertale fight in CtM, though items in undertale were a lot more balanced, so that was probably a callback more than anything.

32:01 I think I heard cup of Joe somewhere in the SCP Articles... Edit : its SCP 294 Here is the document Document SCP-294a (regarding incident 294-01): On August 21, 2005, Agent Joseph ██████ attempted to use Item SCP-294 to obtain coffee during his allotted break time at 9:30 AM. At the request of Agent █████ █████████ "to see what it would do", ██████ requested "a cup of Joe" from the item. Moments after confirming the selection, Agent Joseph ██████ began to sweat profusely and complained of dizziness before collapsing. After moving the unconscious agent to the infirmary, the medical team recovered the contents of the cup dispensed by Item SCP-294: a combination of blood, tissue, and other bodily fluids. Testing revealed the DNA sequence of the biological material dispensed by SCP-294 matched that of Agent ██████.

Remote bombs are also a much more common power up in bomberman. Also, the chainsaw and hockey mask, while a reference TO the references you pointed out is how Edgar, from Final Fantasy VI, uses the chainsaw tool. VI is the one the "Tools" and "Blitz" (and subsequent suplex) come from.
@peterwill31683 жыл бұрын
It's worth noting that in the Final Fantasy themed fight with the Right Hand Man, the suplex option is a reference in of itself to the Final Fantasy VI skill, which is further connected with the description of the achievement mentioning the name Locke, which is one of the characters in that particular Final Fantasy as you mentioned.

I know I'm a bit late, but Sledge MacRush might be a reference to Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, with an operator being called "Sledge". His ability is that he has a sledge hammer and can break soft walls, but a community meme is to actually use the sledge hammer as a weapon and getting kills with it, either "rushing" in to catch people off guard or finishing off downed players, which is a similar position that Nate Box is lying in before getting hit.
