since my sophomore year of highschool (like 2020) i had to fight off the urge to shave my hair into a buzz cut. but then i actually started to like my hair and i knew how to take care of it and i discovered how to do twists which is like the dream hairs style for black transmascs omg so there was no way i could cut off all my hair while i was on that gender euphoria high. but now that i graduated and it’s been like 3 years I began to grow tired of fighting off the urges. The voices. They got stronger as I only got weaker. So I cut off all my hair last month lol. Honestly it’s like the best decision ive made. I miss my old hair but i look hot as hell, hotter than i ever did before so fuck yeah

When I was 13, I also did a mega chop--except it was highly ill advised, and brought on purely by my love of hot topic merchandise. I'll explain: I was at the peak of my Yuri on Ice!! phase, getting weird unknowable gender envy from Viktor, and fully entrenched in the Hot Topic lifestyle. I would probably make my mom drive me to the mall monthly or bimonthly just so I could go to Hot Topic, both in the hopes that I would someday fit into the anime merch (I was in an awkward limbo between XL and 2X at a time when they might have 2 or 3 extra large shirts out for display on occasion) and just to try and absorb the raw edgy atmosphere of the place so I could bring it home and feel fulfilled in my quest. Anyway, one day I bought every YoI!! blanket, way too much Black Butler and miscellaneous jewelry that my neck was too fat to wear, and some variety of swag shirt all at once, and the cashier that rung me up was peak Hot Topic employee. Gauges, half buzzed-half extremely straightened green hair, covered in tattoos and piercings, the whole 9 yards. I thought they were like a real life anime character, and when I got home I looked at Ciel, and I looked at Viktor, and I knew I HAD to chop half of my hair off. My hair type is weird. It's wavy-curly on the first few layers, then nearly straight underneath. This means that on the best temperature day, with natural hair down to my hips, it stuck out about 2 inches from the side of my head. On a humid day, that tripled. I did not know to take this into account when I went to my hairdresser the next week, so my plan was: "hey, I want this whole side of my head buzzed like a guy, and then leave this other half like a girl but at my shoulder!" Keep in mind, I was a 13 year old "girl" at the time, and had never cut my hair in my life. It was curly at my waist, and if it was straightened it was well past my ass. I went from that to my 70-year-old hairdresser's interpretation of what a young lady should do with her hair, which was an awkward 2 inches of spiky straight hair on the left side, and a good 8 inches of puffy unmanageable curls on the right side. And I ate it up. She completely convinced me that's what I asked for in the first place, I had no clue that she used products in my hair so I fully expected it to stay normal for the foreseeable future. I went home feeling like I was an anime character. The next day when I went to school, it was humid as hell. I took two steps outside and my hair was a solid 8 inches out of the side of my head. When I got to school, my girlfriend took the hot Topic choker I bought for her, then broke up with me at lunch for being too ugly. Middle school was wild and I'm grateful for hair growing. Before corona I choped it to my shoulders and when quarentine started I wanted a pixie cut because I saw Andi Mac, and I was like shes asian, im asian, ill look exactly the same (no i didnt). And when I went to the hair salon the guy did it much longer than i wanted it and I looked like an emo boy. Then I tried a variety of short hairstyles and in 2021 I shaved my head I HAD THE BUZZ CUT, then I let it grow and tried more short hairstyles and now im trying to grow out my mullet to that Connie length like i had when i was a child: im in pain, it looks so bad rn.

i also did a big chop in like 2021 or smth. I had hair actually down to the crack, and ended up cutting it to rest on my collarbone. then after a few months i got bangs also because of my pinterest feed that lied and told me I could pull off bangs, and i completely regretted it. Fast forward i get layers in my short hair, then cut the layers off and have my hair barely touch my shoulder, then try to cut layers in my hair myself, and completely botch it. now my hairs kinda medium length and my bangs have grown out to short curtain ones. Every time i brush my hair the shorter parts of the layers poof out and it makes me want to shave everything off immediately, or get a haircut like aisha’s. I’ll probably use her as a reference pic cause why not 😻
