I couldn't help but think about how the girls would tell their future families about camping with Mom and Dad. "We laughed until we cried. We made a trench in the sand to keep the ocean out of the fire while we toasted marshmallows and watched the sun go down. Dad was so excited to build a fire on the beach." Yep, lucky girls. One of my favorite videos ever. Thanks.

Ummm butter! ribeye! salad! I'm just here for the smellavision. ShMallow slightly black with mostly caramelized edge, Hershey xl bar, Graham cracker delivery system... speaking of the stinky slinky nightmare...Friend of mine watched some folks hook up flush hose to blackwater flush on their RV, turn on water, didn't open gate valve, blew blackwater out the roof vent. Safe travels!

Burnt marshmallows for me: burn it, skin it, rinse and repeat. Next poll: campfire technique, teepee or log cabin? Noticed your fire was log cabin, which is of course the best method.

I love seeing people experiencing OBX for the first time. The Outer Banks has a special place in my heart. My Scout Troop actually did a fundraiser to raise money for the move of the lighthouse and we were invited to be there when it was moved to it’s resting place. It’s a bummer that you didn’t get the chance to climb to the top because that is by far the the best view..

Take a baking sheet and spread peanut butter in Ritz Crackers (must be Ritz) then lay a marshmallow on it's side on top of the peanut butter and put it in the oven until the marshmallows turmeric toasty brown. Serve hot with a glass of milk. They're to die for.

I've been waiting for you guys to get this far up the coast!! We actually just got home today from a 2 week stay at Camp Hatteras. I'm so sad that it didn't work out for you guys to stay there; we love it there! I'm glad they apologized and refunded your money. The site we stayed in was actually the one just to the west of yours, on the other side of that drainage/walkway. We loved it, it backed up to the pond and yet we felt like we were in our own little corner (my husband tends to be on the introverted side). We stayed there for 3 days last year and loved it so much we went back this year. We do the bulk of our rving in the summer (my husband is a farmer) so we always try to cram in a bunch of stops in a 2 week period. Every few years we take a "break" from that and spend the whole 2 weeks in one spot; Camp Hatteras was that this year!! I can't wait to see the rest of your journey up the OBX!!

If Im eating roasted marshmallows on their own, I like a little burn on the outside, but for s’mores, … it’s all about the ooey-gooeyness. Im from Wilmington, and the Hatteras lighthouse is a place that brings native North Carolinians great pride. Even the move was such a HUGE endeavor that was so risky, given how old and tall the lighthouse is, that born-n-bred North Carolinians celebrated when it was completed. FOS Crew, this area of OBX i am very familiar with and go there often. Corey make sure to always air down to 20 LBS before you go on the beach. The sands shift and blow there and create pockets of lose sand. You get stuck you can get fined. You should always use 4 low too. In most 4X4s this locks the hubs and makes it a real 4-wheel drive. I hope you went across the street to the Oregan Inlet pier to watch the fishing boats come in (Some of the Wicked Tuna boats dock there). They like to lay out their catch on the pier to show them off.

Get the square marshmallows, and nice golden brown is the best marshmallows, add peanut butter cups and soft cookies. That is a perfect s'more.

I was laughing when you said you would 'probably' air down. Around here that is mandatory. I really enjoyed your video. I haven't been there in about 3 years. I'll be there in October for the fish run. The best fishing on the east coast.
@FindingOurSomeday2 жыл бұрын
Well we hadn't seen the beach yet but once we did, it was definitely a must. We drive out on our favorite beach in St. Augustine all the time, but no need to air down there. Glad you will be headed back soon! We have heard that the fishing there is incredible! Best of luck to you!

If you want to climb a light house when you leave Hatteras going north when tou cross the bonner bridge the Bodie island light was letting people go up to the top of the light house

It was such a wonderful adventure with the girls! So glad we are documenting these moments to share with our grandchildren SOMEDAY! We are big lighthouse fans and love the ones we have been able to see in Michigan! Many more to see the next time we are in that area!

@@FindingOurSomeday Our sons are just a little bit older than your daughters so we understand that whole "documenting for posterity" thing. Yes, so much beauty here in Michigan. It's a hidden gem for sure. We look forward to watching your next adventure!

it's amazing how deserted that campground is a Cape Hatteras because everyone wants to stay at the commercial campgrounds with all the amenities. Last time we stayed there with our Senior pass it was like $7.50 a night.

We loved how quiet and amazing that campground was! We had the best time driving out on the beach there!

Great video. As far as would I’ve left? Being a work camper in campgrounds I know the embarrassment when campers utilities don’t work and would of stopped at nothing to get you up and running. That said once they asked you to move sites I’d moved on as well. 👍

I always enjoy your videos. They are so down to earth and "normal." You make a trip be like life. You're flexible, informative and the love and happiness shines through. Your daughters remind me of me and my sisters. Over the years I have found are the kind of memories you encounter. You are so cool about set backs, etc. A big lesson to us all! Love that you share your travels and lives with us! Thank you!

That stew looks good! I am sorry, I only like Hungarian smores. That is a very thick cut of bacon. The bacon juice is dripping on the bread and when it is roasted is ready to eat.
