That thing about Archie Spinball taking place before the actual game is sort of true since that adaption ends with Sonic getting kicked out of the Veg-O-Fortress and swearing to take it on another day. Accompanied with that is a blurb telling kids to play Spinball to get the conclusion to the story.

I vote Sonic Colours DS for the best half-pipe Special Stage. Its fairly easy, but the music is incredible, avoiding the wrongly colours spheres so you can collect them later is cool, and did I mention that the music is incredible? Also, every Chaos Emerald in Sonic Battle is green and that game is at least canon to Sonic Advance 3, Dark Brotherhood and IDW.

I recently got all of the Chaos Emeralds for the first time in my life after hours and hours of attempts. Somehow, seeing the true 3D incarnations of the special stages from the mobile version in motion after I've gotten used to the faux-3D originals makes me feel physically ill.

I’ll be honest, I never much cared for 2’s special stages. They’re better than 1’s, but I don’t think they really got good special stages until CD. Best half pipe is 3D Blast Saturn though. Those a are the most fun part of the game.

New version of sonic mobile has ads (sadly) but also support for wider screen aspect ratios which is neat for 2d sonic games. Apparently they support 120hz screens also, meaning they run at 120fps max.

Also sadly they dont have any cloud save options or such, meaning your saved games are erased every time you reinstall them on any device.

I'm a little disappointed that Stephen didn't give us a lecture on color theory and how color is supposed indicate danger while they were playing in Chemical Plant Zone. The water is purple which should mean instant danger, but it's just like normal water! What is this travesty of game design??!!

Purple and Blue in Chemical Plant are synonymous with danger. In Mania, they give you blue and purple objects that do and don't hurt you, so it's inconsistent and irritating

However I will say that I gave Mania another shot and I definitely like it as a whole more than I dislike the parts that bug me, and I definitely don't feel the same angry passion that I did before
