Personally, I am worried this will become a worldwide issue. In the past, hikikomori and low sex rate were considered Japanese problems, but are now happening in many other developed countries. There have always been people willing to manipulate others through affection and love. But now they have a platform to manipulate way more people than they previously could. It's a shame.

Just like a single faulty cog can break an otherwise good complicated machine, sometimes a complicated problem can have simple reason. The reason for lonelines in most people is poor social skills and lack emotional awareness, and to develop those one should have a lot contact with other people since early age. And this seems to be the problem that destroys Japanese society; since early age they have so much mork and social interactions get formalised so early, they just don't have time or breathing space to practice their social skills and emotional awaraness. It gets even worse when they grow up and have to go to work; they have to commute to work, then spend 12-16 hours at work, then go back and don't even have enough time to sleep. This much work and that little time to rest and have own time, could break an otherwise healthy person and then they don't have time or skill for any social interactions. They are bound to be lonely and both mentally and insitutionally unable to escape their loneliness, so they have to resort things like maid cafes and host clubs to get any illusion of companionship. Not like the same problem doesn't occur elswhere. '8-8-8' has long since been an obsolete solution since people don't live just by their workplaces like they used to in XIXth century, but Japan with culture of working over 12 hours a day just puts their people at even worse situation socially.

As a western man... I feel like this situation we are looking at in Japan is crazy and backwards, and with the other side of the coin - men being the victim of this kind of thing... I think it makes all the evolutionary sense, well.. not quite how things are today, that is clearly to blame on capitalism gone crazy, and the s*x market being so... standardised, and easily enterable... But do you know what I mean? Male libido and how it's easier for attractive women to either go do s*x work, or find a partner they want, no? Like, I do think when I was younger I could have done s*x work if I wanted, but I doubt my clientele options would be as vast as an attractive woman (y'know old women would be the majority of my clientele lol). But... I don't think things will ever go back to how they were before. And it isn't INSANELY bad.. there are still very attractive women doing normal jobs being normal. But it does blow my mind that women in Japan are so desperate that they are falling into traps like this. With male examples in the west... I mean I don't know anyone who took anything any further than paying a cam girl. And I do know some pretty sad dudes lol. But to have sad, lonely dudes makes sense to me. And women can be that way of course. But is dating really not an option for so many women in Japan? We're supposed to bread winners... supposed to be in a good head space. These requirements are getting harder and harder. And I feel like Japan is even traditional when it comes to gender requirements, surely no women should feel pressured into s*x work at the behest of some guy? Do the Japanese just not have the notion that if a guy seems like he's shaking you down for money... just go elsewhere? How are these women so broken. Crazy. It's crazy to me.

A visual shorthand, so to speak. They get a feeling of being with a celebrety, especially with their faces plastered onto signs outside the building, and the luxurious surroundings. I just saw a foreigner youtuber who shared how she decided to make a documentary discussing the "disturbing" phenomenon of both high success rates & multiple number of daily suicides in Japan where people suiciding by throwing themselves onto the tracks of trains arriving at platforms because she recently traveled to Japan & encountered a delay to her train trip which led her to her discovery. She even found previous clips of high school girls recording & sharing live videos on train platform bidding farewell before disappearing as a train arrived. I like many Japanese things, but as I seek to understand Japan more & see more of these soft-white underbelly society issues being discussed, it is beginning to become more apparent to me that the Japanese having high-consideration for others, which made many Japanese super-polite(a good thing), & the strive for excellence & perfection which makes Japanese products reputable for their premium quality, the Japanese culture which helps propelled Japan to its success today, yet at the same time, those cultural characteristics of Japanese society, might also be what is creating such a highly strung & stressful society which makes the Japanese people especially amongst the youths & younger ladies, who are at the age when many of them with lower-self-esteem, would make them inevitably seek words of praise, approval & recognition which they do not easily receive in their normal day-to-day life?

It's a fascinating food-chain modern Tokyo has created for itself (and probably all the other big Japan cities). Lonely, emotionally starved women go to Host Clubs, get in debt and are forced to go into romance-scamming or prostitution to make money. Lonely, emotionally and sex starved men go to these women as clients. Losers who wish they could get the women that these hosts get - they now can actually get (for a price). That money they pay the girl for sex service goes back to the Host , the apex predator. What does the Host do with all that money? Do they have to share it with a Boss? Do they have significant others (real ones, not fake ones).

Japan should not have lowered the age of adulthood from 20 to 18. Now inexperienced JP youth can legally borrow money and sign contracts. And it is rather sexist to only protect women. Are women special and unable to protect themselves from predatory men? But men are not special and offer no protection from predatory women? A very complicated problem with complicated solutions. Japan's education system should focus on teaching students actual working skills rather than focus on 2,000 years of history.

The way to deal with this is to track down the financial links and the breadth of the operation. Snap up as many of the operators as possible and the publicly make an example of them. Raise the risk threshold for behaviour like this. Also stop sending lone girls to university, it's always been a bad idea and serves no real purpose, developed countries need stable families and large ones, not even more wage slaves for the GDP charts. Women working only deflates wages and is the definition of a short term solution to a long term problem.

They are called "Loverboys". In the West this is a big issue to😢. It al comes down to one thing to solve this problem. All people need to have jobs and enough money to eat and live. If this does not get any better then people will find other means to make money and they will not always do this in a good way. People are more dangerous then we think if the need for survival become a daily struggle. If life was organised differently then people would not have to find other means to make money. And then there is another thing. Not all people are qulified to be educated. Soms are not that smart enough and can become dangerous in this need for survival. Now with all what is happening in the world, it will become worse. And we are looking at it but we are not doing anything about it😢
