This is like the 5th video I’ve watched about Fingal’s cave. Is there some bloody reason no one actually shows INSIDE the cave?!

More importantly than pink floyd's song, it's the inspiration for the greatest symphony ever written by a scottish composer: Hebrides overture by Mendelssohn

Eh... He was German - and jewish

Yes he was German, and born Jewish but was Baptized when he was 7. His father was a prominent business man and his Grandfather was one of the greatest Jewish scholars. To succeed in Germany at that time, it was best not to be Jewish, so many (about 1/2 I think) became Christians. Felix didn’t choose to convert, but he embraced it fully.

Ermm, it's a Overture, not a Symphony [big difference] - a Classic/Romantic musical take on it. Actually, Mendelssohn was quite sea sick when he visited it in a small boat, but he did jot down the main theme on a postcard which he sent back home to his family.

Wonders of Scotland!👻 "Fingal's Cave" From where comes the sound of the flute. Can there be a cave,,,from which the sweet sound of the flute floats? You will think that you are either haunted or giving a joke. No mosquitoes, one of the amazing sea caves in the world is Fingals Cave. It is located next to Staffa, an uninhabited island off the west coast of Scotland. This cave is also called Sur cave. In the 18th century, Joseph Banks and his group first discovered the sound of this melody. Bank's team was enthralled by its beauty with 82 acres of land. They came and started preaching in the mainland. Since then, the popularity of this amazing cave has been increasing. Queen Victoria of England also visited this cave. The Scottish Government is committed to beautification. Now the must item for tourists is Fingal Cave. The interior structure of this cave is such that when the wind moves through it, a strangely beautiful and flute-like sound comes out of this cave. Anyone who approaches this cave on a full moon night and hears this melody will be mesmerized. It seems as if he is staying in a dreamland. The cave is made up of brilliant hexagonal basalt rocks that look as if they were man-made. Maximum height is 138 feet. A long time ago a lava flow from a volcano cooled and formed this shape as it flowed through the sea water. It is currently declared a heritage site belonging to the National Trust of Scotland. fingal's cave has nothing to do with ireland.

Irish and Celtic people? It's a Scottish Island, why would it be considered Irish?
@breimalislobodnoime7 жыл бұрын
Because invention of 'ancient' traditions is serious business. The guy who named the cave in 18th century named it after one of Irish mytological heroes. But it IS worth noting that borders weren't always where they are today, 'Scoti' is a name Romans gave people who raided their border, and migrations happened at all times. It doesn't have anything to do with this cave, but it is still worth thinking about.
