Dude, You ROCK. Out of the thousands of videos on KZbin about this subject, YOU are the only one to explain something so simple as the string not needing to be pressed down hard enough to touch the wood of the fret board. Might be a thoughtless process to an experienced guitar player, but an unknown revelation to a complete beginner such as myself. THANK YOU!

This video was a lifesaver as i’m a beginner learning guitar, I was scared that maybe my gituar wasn’t tuned as the notes never sounded the same as the basic notes I tried to play but nope, guess I just didn’t play the chords correctly xD
@TomasMichaud4 жыл бұрын
I really like the part about finding the right amount of pressure to get the note. It seems like a lot of beginners press way too hard because they're trying to compensate for less than optimal hand and finger positioning.

November 21st 2018 I started playing, this was the first video on guitar I ever watched. I don't think I ever watched another one from this channel but I remember it being super helpful. Especially the bit about pressing down. I won't say it gets easier but it is tons of fun and there is endless stuff to learn. Best piece of advice I have is you will fail before the gear, what I mean is a lot of new players blame a cheap guitar or amp, or having fat fingers, small hands, etc etc etc... It really just means you need to practice more. Some things just take time and there are no shortcuts, nobody can teach you to master the neck in a simple course, no one can teach you to glide up and down... If you watch those videos they all involve learning scales and practicing them... Get a setup on a guitar that makes you want to play when you look at it, find a pick that feels comfortable in your hands and then as you get better you will learn what you need and dont need and what you like and dont like

I am a complete noob and I struggle myself to play even basic chords but I believe it is important to mention few things: 1) Do not forget about the correct wrist-forearm alignment which most of the time should be in a straight line or slightly bent. If you do not do it, then you might suffer real wrist pain like I did. Unfortunately the more straight u keep them, the less clearance space there is and harder it is to play chords properly. 2) I also heard that noobs should strive to keep their left hand fingers as parallel as they can most of the time, probably so you avoid the over-rotation of you wrist as you learn basic chords. In other words, your palm of the hand should face guitar neck most of the time with as little rotation towards your eyes/body or away from you as possible. 3)There is also no mention of how to press on strings properly. Most of us know by now that you should press on them with the very tip of your fingers. But what if you press on them with downward force but you pull them slightly towards your hand as you do it? Is it wrong to do so even when it sounds good? Sometimes I need to do it or else pulling on the neighbouring string will smash with high pitch sound against my nail. For example, when I play with a finger on E and H/B string on third fret,( leaving G open), and with the middle and the second finger on D and A strings on a second fret, I pull my ring finger towards me as I pick open G string, otherwise it will most certainly hit my nail on the ring finger. I can avoid it by pulling it with little force but then the sound is way lower. (I do not use a pick in this example) All these issues make it incredibly hard for untalented beginners to learn a correct form on their own, especially since there are many scenarios where you need to break some of these rules as you progress in your practice. :c

Maybe a mark where a string a string should be pressed maybe! But this video gave me a new perspective, a whole area to press down just for a note! Shittttt! violin surely is tough comparatively, a mm wrong and the music is messed up.
