Amazing how you broke it down...you explained what is a root note, and showed on the fret board why it is a C chord on the A string.... it took me some time to figure that out, but you explained it basic simplistic terms and I would have gotten it long ago if I saw your video. You're not assuming it is understood, the mark of a great educator. Thank you for being realistic!

Like others are commenting, your teaching style is wonderfully patient and understanding. But I have to add that (between your guitar and your gentle precise picking) you have a beautiful lush tone. I have been listening to this lesson just to hear that wonderful clear acoustic sound.

Hey Katie, just found you.... I look at a Lot of KZbin guitar teachers. I’m 53, I’ve been playing for coming up to 30 years now (with a couple of long breaks in there). Loved your lesson, great information, easy to follow & a nice, clean, professional look. The pick pattern TIMI sure is a classic, it put to very good use in a smokey, tropical, acoustic blues called "The Water Lets You In" by Book Of Fears. It’s a simple GCD progression that interestingly stars out on D. It’s a really great song to nail timi down as the changes are easy and far between, it even sounds good with a C add 9, which makes the changes super easy. Going to subscribe and have a look around your home page, but first a thank you for a fine lesson. Your Karma will be good from these lessons. Bless.

Hi Katie, I’ve followed your ukulele instructions for years. I’m MikeinMinnesota and recently I found a used guitar almost identical to the one I played in high school 60 years ago. I couldn’t resist! Like my old guitar it’s a spruce top, Martin copy, acoustic, folk (not Dreadnought) style instrument. Now I have fo follow your guitar lessons as I see if I can pick it up again after all these years. Thanks so much for your wonderful videos. 👨🏻🦳🔥🎶 Mike

I only hope others appreciate your efforts and realize even though I have played the guitar for a long time, your never too good or old to learn something new or enhance what you know. Thank you for your time, effort, and teaching in an understanding way. You are appreciated, thank you. G

Yes to more patterns, please! I have been playing with fingerpicking for around a month. I love picking up the basic chords to a song then trying to fingerpick so I can get the feel of the original piece. Hopefully one day I will get more adventurous and mess with tempos. Maybe create an original piece. Fingerpicking is going to be my route on guitar and Uke as I am realistic about my vocal (or lack of) talent 8) Also, thank you for introducing the 7Metronome app to me! God Bless 8)

Hey!! I've been subscribed to your channel for a few months, and I have to say that I love it so much. It is easy to tell that you really care about the content you're making and that you really care about music. I love your tutorials so much. They've helped me play some of my favorite songs. Your ukulele buying guide helped me choose my second ukulele (a tenor from kala). Some of your videos inspired me to pick up guitar again. I tried it when I was younger, but it wasn't for me. I got a new guitar today (a gorgeous Luna acoustic with a cutout and pickup) and it is one of the best investments I've made in a long time. I can't believe I ever gave guitar up. I guess what I'm trying to get to is thank you for being such an awesome resource that I can go to for some good tips.
