I have that pattern, and after seeing your make I'll be making that jacket for me, so thank you so much for very informative video, happy sewing.

That Bomber Jacket is so amazing! Your attention to detail is always inspiring. You do have my sympathies though, for the pocket opening. 😅😂 I did watch your last video but didn't comment. It was so much fun! I'm absolutely with you in the mindset of rather than trying to find people who sew and making them your friends, find your friends and make them people who sew. This has worked for me. I highly recommend it, and my husband teases me all the time for trying to turn the world into sewists. I hope you have the best time in Paris, and that you can find some really special fabric. Your enthusiasm for your fabric is always so infectious. I look forward to seeing what you do with all of those fabulous swatches.

Thank you so much Theresa!! I am so excited for ALL the things! Thank you so much for the lovely compliment, I love a good amount of symmetry, so this project was fun! The pockets😩, in hindsight, would it have been so bad to cut out some new pocket pieces 🤔 probably not, I may regret that down the road given all the cutting, interfacing, and reinforcement stitches I used, I doubt that I’d consider redoing that, but good lesson learned. Your husband’s on to something, there, we may be the brand of sewist with the right set of skills to inspire the nation, Theresa, we just might be! I find you thoughtfulness, enjoyment of the craft and attention to detail just as inspiring. You’ll be happy to note that I brought a hero of sewing supplies for my cousin that I’m visiting in Paris, and have plans to go with her to buy her first sewing machine and help her get started before I leave. So there we have it, another sewist about to enter the fold, let’s spread the creativity!!

I hope your PJs turned out lovely!! I did my first round in the fabric stores, I didn’t buy anything, but it was fun seeing the same stores from Aisha’s videos, she did a much better job with the filming though lol looking forward to round 2!

And my zipper and notions collection would be relieved to finally be put to use also, I like that idea a lot! The upholstery fabrics are ideal for that sort of use. I’m sure I’ll be overwhelmed with garment sewing at some point in the future and be itching to get into some no -garment sewing to practice some new techniques!

Girl, that tiny pocket! I love how you used the tapestry fabric for this jacket. And I love the metal zipper, too! The way you lined up the motifs is “chef’s kiss”! I so want that blue leather swatch! You got some great fabrics! Hmm V9149’s yoke situation is a nice detail!
@TIMAbyFK10 ай бұрын
Send me the time stamp of the blue leather swatch you have your eye on, it’s yours! I’ll save it for when we meet up on your side of the beltway! Hahhaha don’t laugh at my pocket hahahaha I was sitting there shaking my head after, because that was just pure stubbornness, i coukdve easily cut out some new pocket pieces to fit the new modification, but NO, I had to use the pieces because I cut them out, so now I’ll be smooshing my hands into tiny pockets for the foreseeable future because the inner workings of that pocket will not be unpicked lol Also, if you want a tracing of that yoke detail, say the word, To see how it’s done.

Love the bomber jacket!!! It looks great in that fabric! Also, Love the Crafterpreneur...she was one of my first sewists I started following as well. I have been making so much stuff, but haven't recorded anything lately for my youTube...hopefully I'll get the mojo to get back at it...but I am enjoying watching everyone else's and especially the Vlogmas stuff. Currently, I'm making this beautiful embroidered emerald green top AND am making decorations for my Sister-in-Law's baby shower and her maternity dress AND I might start one more project. lol! Oh, and I just finished making some awesome matching onesies for me and my boyfriend for Christmas. wahoo! Multitasking to the max! Happy Holidays and have an amazing time in France!

I hope that we can expect a bumper packet makes video whenever the time permits to see what you’ve been up to. I always love your creativity and hacks and drafting so I can’t wait to see these makes. Hope you’re having a happy holiday and preparing for a festive new year!

Love the bomber jacket! I'm so glad you got it (almost) finished. For the swatches, I'm excited to see what you make. You got some lovely finds. That company should be offering you a brand deal for showcasing their wares so beautifully and enthusiastically. 😊 I hope they hear about you and check back to see what you make. Enjoy your travel preparations and your trip!

What a beautiful bomber jacket. I know you must be proud of this make. I am proud of you and in awe of your style and creativity. The tapestry fabric is unique and different. Your jacket is definitely a trendsetter! What a coincidence.... I was recently given 3 boxes of large swatches, I think 8x8 squares of upholstery fabric from a furniture store that the interior designer was throwing away! I plan to make a patchwork duvet cover. Thanks for sharing. Happy Holidays Soror and have a wonderful day ❤!!!!
@TIMAbyFK10 ай бұрын
Patricia!!! Thank you so much, that was such a confidence boosting note, and I so appreciate you! I am proud that I figured out a way to make the jacket work for me, that tapestry fabric was so inspiring to me, and I’m a sucker for symmetry! Now about these interior designers giving away fabric, what is this about? Has this being going on for ages? Is it a clear out of old stock as they prepare for new trends and swatches in the new year? Whatever it is, I’m thankful that the folks we found were thoughtful and kind enough to reach out to the community to find other creative who might have a use for it. Good luck with your duvet cover! My mind never goes to home wears, but it’s a brilliant idea!

Oh! I found a sewing friend of the best kind. My daughter asked me to guide her through her first project as her Christmas present. (Go team!) We looked at the JoAnns sale today and came upon Vogue 1928 wrap dress which will be on sale next week. We bought the fabric (a lovely purpleish maroon silky with the pattern in the weave ) and will wait for the pattern sale next week. A gift to her but more so for me. Yes! Let's recruit sewing buddies! 🌻🍄

Wooooooohooooooo! Nothing better than gaining an in person sewing friend, but your daughter to boot! That’s just wonderful! With you by her side, she’ll be in the mix in no time! I hope the Vogue wrap dress turned out lovely and you enjoyed the holidays! I hope you enjoy more sewing time together in the new year as well!

Love, love, Love your bomber jacket!!💕 I hope you have a blast in Paris. I have only been once but was too busy seeing the sights, eating the food and experiencing the French to do fabric shopping!! I hope you do better than I did.

Thank you so much Katherine!! Sounds like you did it right! The last time I was in Paris I hadn’t fully renewed my love of sewing to this degree, so it hadn’t even crossed my mind to look for fabric. I’ve done a round of browsing- on a mission for my bridesmaid dress fabric, but walked away inspired and overwhelmed with beautiful fabric options and no bridesmaid dress fabric yet (found some options that I photographed to come back to). Now I go to bed reviewing my videos in prep for my final round where I hope to walk away with some actual cuts of fabric- I have to remember “there will always be more fabric”, but there was so much to see! 😍

Hi - Sorry forgot to mention Emmaline handbag patterns - super pretty and many patterns that would work with your faux leather swatches as a complement to some woven. I've made several of their beautiful bags - I'm experienced as you are, and I think you'll find them a great project.

Ive just finished a wearable blanket soun have grey fluff everywhere but on with a hive pullover by Allie Olson as a gift. Pj s next. I have just fin8shed a wearable toile for the stokx parterns eve which i feel like you might like! 😊

Hi Deb! Thank you, it was exciting to get it done as my last garment of the year! I’ve done one round of fabric browsing so far, but felt so overwhelmed and rushed, that I didn’t get anything. I took some (not so great, shaky, fast, awkward) videos that I’ve been reviewing in the evenings and taking a screenshot of styles that I’ve like to go back for on my next round before I leave. You have been busy, I hope all of your makes turned out fabulously! That Stokx pattern top is so intricate, that shaping possibilities, color blocking potential are very interesting and make it so unique from other tops I’ve seen out on the market! I don’t think I would have considered it, but the view with the view with the slight V neckline is so beautiful!!! It makes it a bit more dressed up and less utility with that design feature! I hope your wearable toile was a success, what view did you choose and how long did it take you, it seems like an involved make

Hi Jennifer, is it the Friday Pattern Co. little belt purse, I’ve seen and heard so much about it by sewists I follow and some love it! That would be a great use for some of these, I recently got a fanny pack for my summer travels earlier in the year, and the hands free mobility it gave me while traveling with my kids (not to mention security) was awesome, and I could see myself trying out a bit of bag making in the future maybe when garment sewing is not as top of mind for me! Thanks for that recommendation!

Your bomber jacket is so beautiful. You had me laughing when you said you wore it to work and it wasn’t done. I know that excitement! Also, really love your chrome tanned leathers. They’re really nice and so much better than genuine leather. Did you know that genuine leather is the equivalent to particle board in the textile world? You got the good stuff
@TIMAbyFK10 ай бұрын
Mari! I trust you because I know your passion and experience with working with leather! But this is a revelation for me, would you be able to share more about this idea, what makes the genuine leather the particle board of its peers? I was under the impression, you’d want the genuine stuff to soften over time and wear with grace etc, and that the faux stuff would be less than. Well then, I’m even more excited that the larger pieces I had were the faux stuff!
