Finishing A Mystery Shawl Within a Month & I AM BEHIND 😱 - CLUE 2 & 3 ♥ 2024 MKAL Vlog 2 | Shaiyeh

It is MKAL Season, and as a somewhat seasoned mystery shawl knitter, I am getting ready for my fourth year of Westknits MKAL fun, with the intention (and added accountability) of ACTUALLY finishing the entire shawl within the month of October. Today, I am catching up, because I AM BEHIND 😱 due to having to put this project to the side to finish a cardigan, sooo we need to zoom through these two clues today, because no way am I not finishing this mystery shawl within a month!
I am using my own hand dyed yarn, inspired by my favourite My Little Pony - Minty ♥ because I am all about the ponies, and of course I needed to bring MLP into this knitting challenge!

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this video and immediately subscribed. I love how excited you were about the shawl. I'm so tired about watching videos where the podcaster complained about how much they hate garter stitch, or purling, how fiddly and mind numbing the triangles were, how the rows were too long, how much they hated the bubbles, or tiny baubles, or the illusion of the triangle/rectangle pieces between the tiny baubles, and on, and on, and on, and on........ Why are they knitting a Stephen West MKAL or even knitting at all?!? So depressing. I'm thoroughly enjoying every single thing about this shawl. It's stunning! I love your happy colours that you chose. Yours is so pretty! And of course Cheddar Kitty makes it even more worthwhile to watch. He reminds me so much of my Bootsie, who also loves "helping" me knit. I have 7 of them (no pretty orange ones though)- Bootsie, Stanley, Marygold, Violet, Rosey, Poppy, and Poppy's brother Lee who was originally Lily until I realized he was a boy and had to change his name to Lil' Lee.😂 They all enjoy holding down patterns, retrieving wayward balls of yarn and stitch markers, or being helpful in every way only kitties can be. Two of them love their kitty tents too (Violet and Bootsie) I'm only finishing up clue two, because I'm enjoying every step, and rushing through it would take away the enjoyment for me. I'm hoping to have it finished for my birthday at the end of November though. I'm looking forward to seeing your completed shawl.

I honestly love this shawl so much, and while: spoiler alert for video no. 3, I did have a small struggle with the tiny bobbles (because of blunt needles), I promise more excitement haha :D I also don't enjoy watching negative videos, it kills the mood for me, so I'm glad this video could be a bit of sunshine for you ^-^ Your cats all have great names, and sound like fabulous little "helpers"! 😻🐈

I don't do MKAL because I'm incredibly picky and I can't stand not knowing what I'm working on, but I live vicariously with your videos this year. Im working on colourwork socks Christmas gifts, they're TEDIOUS and I enjoy the distraction!

I’m obsessed with this concept! Haven’t knitted since I was in high school but this definitely has me wanting to brush off the old needles. I really love this years MKAL - I’m not normally a huge fan of them, I liked shawlography but wasn’t keen on the last two, however this one I really do like and I think I’ll be casting one on once I’ve cleared my needles a bit! I love the colours you’ve chosen Shai ❤

Right!! I loved Shawlography, and have been less enthused with the last 2 as well (even tho I love both of my finished shawls, just not quite as much haha), but for sure,this one has surpassed shawlography for me! thank you so much! ♥

Such a cute pattern! The little triangles also remind me of mermaid tails as well as carnival bunting 🎡🧜‍♀️ i dont have the attention span for most of stephen wests MKALs so i probably wont be knitting any of the shawls, but i am knitting a cozy alpaca blanket! I'm trying to make it look like a big peice of moss since my couch is brown, i thought it could look like moss on a log! Love watching your vlogs while crafting by the way, they are some of my favorites to keep me company while playing around with yarn! 🧶✨️

I'm watching this on December 1, and I for some reason decided to crochet everyone's gift this year. I started in September. So far I have finished: one throw blanket, 2 cuffed hats and a cat shaped coaster. The coaster is in case I don't finish making the other throw blanket I'm doing. As for unfinished things, there's a half done throw blanket I just mentioned, another cuffed hat, which I was working on while watching this, a fluffy D20 pillow, and a mandala style blanket. It was the end of October when I realized that I had too much on my plate. I know that I still have way too much left to do, and that I should accept one project to be finished after Christmas. I decided that the mandala one should be it, as its for my young daughter, who probably wont even noticed among her other gifts.

I'm almost finished with a test knit with lots of colourwork. A few inches of one sleeve and the other sleeve left to finish. I wasn't sure how the colours you dyed would look together, but they're delightful. I can't wait to see the finished shawl.

Currently not knitting because medication side effects give me a nasty tremor and interfere with my fine motor skills. The only craft currently working well is cross stitching on wide canvas, so that it is.

@@Shaiyeh thank you. It's frustrating and there's a chance the symptoms stay even after I'm off the meds (if I ever manage to get off them), but it's absolutely worth it. I have the world's most painful disorder and that stuff brought me down from not being able to leave the house for more than an hour and being in excruciating pain most of the time to strong but bearable pain that doesn't make it above an hour a week. It's absolutely amazing and really improved my quality of life in a way I can't describe. I miss making gifts by hand and I am painfully aware for how long I haven't been able to knit socks, but that's life. And as you said I have one craft left and I'm grateful for that.

I love your color choice for this project.:) It´s so cute and sweet. I never tried MKAL and I really don´t know why. :D Maybe because that I am scared that I don ´t be able to do all the different types of stitches. :D On the other hand I started knitting again this autumn after almost a year long pause so now I knit just a simple sweater to get out of the rust. But I enjoy it a lot. I am really curious about the clue 4 and the final look of the shawl.:)
